Seafood Mac was amazing!!

We love Uncle Ike's. It's part of our yearly OBX tradition. Nothing gets out vacation off on the right foot better than food and drinks at Uncle Ike's. The drink menu is varied and always has interesting options. The menu isn't huge, but everything on the menu is done to perfection every time. It is bigger than it looks but due to popularity there is usually a small wait during the lunch rush which is when we usually go. It's well worth it.

The service was outstanding from our waitress, Paige! The piece of fish on the fish and chips was very very good, but the french fries were overcooked and greasy. The shrimp on the shrimp platter was very good, but the mashed potatoes were just okay and the green beans were cold. If it wasn't for Paige it would have been just an okay experience at tourist prices, but she brings it up to par. I will say the bar looks like a fun place to hang out even though we did not do that.

In town on vacation and several of us were looking to go out for drinks without our kids. For a bar open 'till 2, calling last call before 12 when patrons were still ordering and coming in struck me as odd. The late night bartender seemed he couldn't be bothered to make any money and paid no one any attention, aside from some locals or kitchen staff getting their free pours. Wouldn't make a crush (their signature drink) because it's too much work to clean it. SMH. This is during peak tourist season.

An hour of my life I’ll never get back. Went inside to put my name on the waitlist and due to it being during a lunch rush, BOH staff was helping seat guests. He was visibly agitated and took my name, as well as several people behind me. About 5 minutes later the people’s names behind me were called. Not mine. I politely bring this to the attention of BOH staff and rather than rectify the situation, he met me with attitude. Even the couple behind me who he wanted to seat instead of me acknowledged that my party was in front of us. He either forgot to write my name down or deliberately ignored me.

When we did get seated by a waitress, we thought the worst was over but no. It became evident after one hour of waiting for our food, long after the other people who were originally behind me had finished their meal and were leaving, did we realize that BOH staff was deliberately withholding our food order. Unbelievably deplorable customer service.

For seafood the quantities were generous and tasty. Disappointed the specials were tuna or tuna. Would have loved a choice of oysters or softshell crabs or another specialty fish.
But for sitting at basically picnic tables maybe I shouldn't be fussy. Do say our table of 8 did enjoy what was placed in front of us.
Service was friendly and steady.
Desserts? Why did pretty everything have chocolate?? I'm not a chocolate lover but others were. Still the group declined dessert.
Yes, go there for good comfort food. Don't expect fine dining.

Food was average, service was okay, but the wait was terrible for food. We waited over an hour and there was maybe 2 other families when we walked in.

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had. We waited an hour for our food to even come out and when it finally did it was cold. They also specified on the menu their wings are gluten free but fry them in the same oil as everything else. So it is not gluten free. Not worth your time nor your money.
