Kindred has a beautiful ambiance and a creative menu, but unfortunately, our experience was impacted by very slow service. From start to finish, the meal took about three hours, with noticeable delays between courses. It took nearly 20 minutes to receive each round of drinks, which made the evening feel much longer than it should have.
The food had some highlights, but several dishes were overly salty, which made it hard to fully enjoy them. Given that Kindred has received awards and recognition in the past, it feels like they may have lost a bit of their fastball. The overall vibe is still lovely, but the execution didn’t live up to the reputation.
With more attention to timing and consistency, Kindred could return to the form that once made it a standout.
Upstairs was extremely loud and our server couldn't answer a single question we had as first time visitors. Once it got dark there were street lights nearly blinding those facing them inside. The food however was absolutely amazing. We tried most of the menu. Maybe worth it in a different part of the restaurant.
Kindred is everything you would want in a restaurant- delicious food, amazing service and a lovely atmosphere! The house made milk bread is so good, the tuna crudo was so fresh, a perfect balance of flavors, and the squid ink conchiglie was amazing! I wanted to slurp the sauce. Will definitely be coming back.
I had a wonderful experience. My server was great. We tried a lot of items. First, the rolls were so so good. So soft. We had the fried oysters for the appetizers loved them. I had the squid ink conchiglie. The sauce was amazing. I joked with my server about how delicious it was as I showed her my empty bowl. The cinnamon roll was the best I had! Also get the oaxaca flaca cocktail! So good
I give this a 5 star not because I have eaten here but because I have bought gifts cards for my grandson teachers that have mentioned this place as their favorite place to eat. I myself do not live in the area and they open at 5 pm close on Monday so for me the timing is not good. But I will make it a point to come and eat here some day.

We've tried pretty much every restaurant of this quality in charlotte and this one was a little disappointing. Maybe it was just a one off type of situation and we will try it again, however, the beef tartare- which we were excited about, was extemely salty. The pork came out cold and the steak was practically half fat. The drinks were pretty good and the service was fantastic. Maybe it will be better next time.

Reserved the Chef's Table for a birthday party (10 people). You are seated downstairs in a cool little nook right beside the kitchen. This was my 3rd time at a Chef's Table event and each time has been exceptional. The food is absolutely delicious and includes everything off the menu (so come hungry!) and the service is just perfection. Note that there is a 10 chair limit...there is no room to add so keep that in mind when reserving.
Wow! Just spectacular. The service was amazing, the food was unbelievable, and my husband loved the $1 High Life ponies. We even got a discount on dinner since we were staying at the Davidson Inn. Couldn't recommend this restaurant more! We basically planned a weekend trip from Durham just so we could try it, and it was so worth it. 10/10.
