The food was alright, the service was great, very friendly. But they used all styrofoam and plastic and disposable dishware and silverware for in-restaurant dining. Very wasteful :( I wanted to have a nice warm mug I could hold, like my usual homey diner experiences

I’ve only ordered lunch from here once or twice during the week because it’s fast and convenient. Today, my husband and I decided to order takeout based on their online menu. He ordered a Pimento Cheeseburger, and I got a regular cheeseburger with curly fries. The online menu described the Pimento Cheeseburger as a 1/3 lb. burger with melted homemade pimento cheese. We paid $27, and when we got home, we noticed my husband’s burger had lettuce, tomato, and onion, but no visible pimento cheese.
I called the restaurant to let them know we received the wrong burger and asked if I could bring it back, and they said yes. When we arrived, we only brought back my husband’s burger. While we were waiting, Misty (who I was told is the owner) came from the back with the burger bag and said, "This is a pimento cheeseburger," in the most condescending tone I’ve ever heard. I asked, "Oh, so there is pimento cheese on it?" She replied yes and pointed to the in-store menu, where it mentioned onions, lettuce, and tomato, as if we hadn’t read it properly. Then, without another word, she dropped the bag on the table in front of us, turned and walked back to the kitchen—no greeting, no apology for the confusion, nothing.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. We left, and I immediately threw the burger in the trash. I’ve heard stories from one of my relatives, who is over 75, about this place’s racist history, but I was willing to give it a chance. After all, it’s 2024, right? I didn’t want to argue with her—it’s her business, and we can’t change her attitude. But we can choose not to patronize her establishment again. I’m sure she'll read this and won’t care, but I want others to be aware of where they’re spending their money.

For the price, just no. I would have expected better quality burger meat and just the food in general. The burger meat was thin and had no taste. I got the pimento burger and it tasted like I was eating just lettuce and bread. The cottage fries were good though. They charge .75 for a small ranch.

One of if not the most iconic resturant in Davidson, The atmosphere is unmatched and nails the small town vibe. The food is also excellent, it's nothing fancy just normal American/comfort food but it's really good American/comfort food. Personally I love the build your own burgers. Also very friendly staff!

Horrible. We knew that the total was high and when we asked for a receipt the woman behind the counter said “y’all are asking for way too much.” After this, we told her NICELY that we got charged for four drinks that we didn’t even order, and then she threw $10 in my face. Ruined my day.

This place was actually terrible! They over charged us for drinks and when we asked for a refund the lady behind the counter with a bandana said “we were doing too much” and threw the cash back at us… I don’t recommend

Classic Davidson diner! Food is good for the soul.
I walked in with my wife and baby around 7:20pm and got an instant feeling we were not welcome. As soon as we opened the door the wait staff and two customers there said “ohhh nooo” and gave us this nasty look. To say that and make your customers feel unwelcome is very distasteful and unprofessional.

I love the soda shop! It’s my favorite place to grab a quick bite to eat and I love how nostalgic it is. All of the employees are super friendly as well! (:

Great location and a nice visit with the kids. I know why the food quality is the way it is. It's not easy buying fresh food and learning new cooking skills with rent as high as it is in that area. Maybe the kitchen just has limited equipment. I don't know. Food it editable, but it would be nice to have a thick, fresh burger, properly seasoned. Maybe show up early and buttermilk soak the chicken fingers? Frozen just isn't my bag.

Always enjoy our visits to the Soda Shop. I usually get one of the melts and cottage fries for breakfast. There's always a seat, especially early. Authentic old school diner atmosphere.
