It’s a really nice restaurant with some good dishes, but many of the items on the menu that are marked vegan are actually not. Some dishes that contain paneer, butter or ghee are marked vegan. I just had one of the dosas that tasted like it was cooked with butter, but I can’t be sure. The menu just made me suspicious of everything.

The restaurant is lovely and the food is so so so good! But, even if it has the vegan symbol notated by it on the menu, several menu items marked vegan listed ghee and paneer as ingredients.. so double check what you order.

I went to Sri Balaji Kitchen on a recommendation and I am pleased. The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing. The staff is very pleasant, friendly, and patient while I asked several questions. The food is delicious with every bit. If you are looking for a relaxing restaurant with a great atmosphere and excellent food this is it.

This was our second time trying thali here, and it was an absolute disappointment. The first time we visited (about a year ago when they had just opened), the food was very good. But this time, the experience was the complete opposite.
They advertise a thali menu, but most of the items were not even available. Who serves three types of chutneys as part of a thali? We also ordered the mini tiffin, which was decent, but for the thali, they simply repeated the same chutneys and the same aloo curry in four different bowls. There was no kootu, no poriyal—nothing that usually makes a thali feel complete.
On top of that, they charged around $19, which is definitely not worth it for what was served. Very disappointing compared to how good it used to be.

A group of 4 adults and one child went on last Saturday evening. We reviewed the Menu at home to look for food without onions and garlic. I found many options in the Menu. So went to Balaji to celebrate my fathers’s 78th Birthday. Unfortunately, there was not selection to do in the real Menu for the items without onions and garlic. So I thought, it is misleading to public to come to the restaurant. There were hardly two items were available what my aunt could eat. On the top, we ordered Sahi paneer, but I make better food at home than restaurant, my dad was not happy with food and told me not to waste money outside. After discussing and disappointment to the service manager, I requested some discount for poor food and not more selections to serve as it shows in the menu, he literally laughed and commented that you pay for the grocery 🙂. I feel they should understand the value of customer and the reason they visit the restaurant. I believe, customers do not only want good food but pure heart to serve and make other ppl happy when they come for their special occasion to celebrate. I will give only 2 starts for let us sit in the restaurant but food and customer service will be zero from my end.

A great authentic south indian vegetarian restaurant in the concord area. Their weekend veg thali is a must try. The kids combo was great value. Service was fast and great ambience. Will definitely repeat. Highly recommend this place.

The place had great ambience but nothing special in food taste or service otherwise..we used to travel via Charlotte and stopped at Triveni express so tried this once...taste was very average..sweet payasam was not great in mini tiffin and chutneys given were so low.

Had the worst experience. Waited almost an hour for just one dosa. Completely unacceptable service and poor time management.

Sri Balaji Kitchen in Davidson is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic South Indian vegetarian cuisine! From the moment you walk in, the cozy ambiance and inviting aroma of spices set the stage for a fantastic dining experience. I’ve been here twice, and each visit feels like a culinary journey to India. The warm, traditional decor and friendly staff make it perfect for both family outings and solo meals.

One of the highlights for me is their panakam, a traditional South Indian drink that’s a refreshing blend of jaggery, ginger, cardamom, and a hint of lemon. It’s served chilled, and the balance of sweet and spicy notes is simply divine—a perfect way to start the meal.

The dosas here are nothing short of flavor —crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, stuffed with a perfectly spiced potato filling. It’s served with an array of chutneys and sambar that elevate every bite.

Service was just below average. They didn’t even ask how the food was.

The only thing I’d love to see is Sri Balaji Kitchen expanding to the Raleigh area!

New staff is not good. They brought our food so late. Started cleaning the table when we were still drinking coffee. I loved previous staff. Same repetitive music.
