Excellent lunch today @ Kanpai. Tuesday is $3- off apps so had to go heavy on the appetizers! We had the tuna tower (which I’ve found is the best in the area), tuna trio (sashimi), gyoza and a cucumber salad with seaweed. Absolutely love their sashimi here. Service quick and friendly as always

Waitress was horrible. MIA most of the time. Drinks and food mediocre. Ambience was great if you just want a bar with really load live music.

I wanted to like this place so bad. Tonight was the third time trying and I have been disappointed each time so unfortunately will not be back.

First time was a Togo order and thought it was overpriced for the quality

Second time was dining in and the food this time was decent (ordered hibachi since I didn’t have a good experience with sushi the time before) but the service was HORRIBLE! We had to get up and get napkins, soy sauce, plates, silverware, chopsticks OURSELVES. Because we could never find our server.

Third time we sat at a high top in the bar area closest to the kitchen. Service and food tonight were horrible. Took an HOUR to get two orders of sashimi two orders of nigiri and a chicken hibachi.

We watched my fiancés hibachi sit in the window for 30 mins. During this time the chef placed a bowl over his rice. Then about 10 mins later took the bowl off and put a bigger bowl over the whole plate. Then took that bowl off and held his hand right over his food (I’m assuming to feel if it was still hot) WHICH IT WAS NOT. It was cold. When our server that was also bartending came to ask how the food was I told her his was cold and she said oh no let me fix that. And my fiancé asked her to put the new one Togo since again we had been sitting there an hour waiting for it and we’re ready to leave because of frustration.

She brings the bill and the “new hot food” Togo. He opens it up tries a piece of the chicken and it is still just as cold. And she still charged us for the cold food.

Do yourself a favor and if you live in Denver just make the extra drive to go to EEZ in birkdale.

Loved the food and service. The restaurant is loud. Very high ceilings and lots of hard surfaces made it hard to talk conversationally. Sushi was very good, as was the soft shelled crab.

The food was really good but WAY overpriced for what you get. Their portion sizes are too small to justify spending $25+ on a plate of food. For what we paid tonight we can go to a Japanese steakhouse and get twice as much food for the same price.
Our waitress was really slow also. She spent most of her night walking around the restaurant sinking than waiting on our table.

My wife and I went back for the 3rd time (hoping 3rd time was a chime) in several months and we won’t be back. The food once again was very generic, no taste and served my salad with just lettuce on the plate (at least dress it up with a tomato or cucumber! My wife ordered a sunomono cucumber salad that was supposed to come with a raw fish, they brought just cucumbers. Her Tuna Sashimi was dry and my steak was tough (I also asked for a steak knife and they done have them). Well if you like the place I’m happy for you but I’d rather travel to eeZ or Rai Lai.

Lunch was really good, but unfortunately, won’t be able to eat there anymore because they charge way too much for a glass of house wine @ $9.00 a glass vs $6.00 dollars a glass everywhere else…?!

We had to leave before eating @6pm, as the performing duo were TOO loud. They performed as they were in a big hall or outside. The manager & Wait staff asked them to lower their volume. This is a smaller venue restaurant. Good food and service otherwise,
