I’m so sad about Backside. The vibes is just not the same anymore. Looks too sterile/touristy. We went Saturday night and there was a DJ playing which was odd because we’ve been used to local bands. The DJ wasn’t great which made us miss the old Backside even more. Surprisingly, it was empty! Even during the off season, a Saturday night would be packed with locals. So silly but they now have plastic straws instead of pasta straws. Again, it’s just the little things that made the old Backside what it was. As always though, the bartenders were awesome and I’m glad to see some old faces still back there.

Hands down the best meals we had in OBX, the Tatonka burger was one of the best smash burgers I’ve ever had. Fair prices and great service! This will be a must stop on every trip!

Probably our best meal during our week long family vacation! All 16 of us (teens/20s, parents and grandparents) were able to sit on the patio in two tables of 8. The food was to die for! Clam chowder was delicious! We had the shrimp & pine nuts (soo good), pork chops (huge portion and amazing), lobster ravioli special (yum!) and the yellow fin special (literally the best thing we ate all week!) Kids also had the burger and duck dynasty. All plates were cleaned and bellies were full! Loved it ALL.

Excellence all around. Indoor, outdoor porch, and outdoor backyard/patio dining make for wonderful atmosphere. Service was outstanding. Food was totally on point. Terrific value. Definitely worth checking out.
They've captured the vibe of the Outer Banks: a little bit hippie, a little bit bluegrass, and all relaxed and fun. Good food! Good drinks! Good band! Good company!

Fan-freakin-tastic.... Service was excellent, atmosphere was great, food - on point. Made it out to the back back (with band Govment Cheese) before and after. You would never know it by the outside that this place is a banger. We had 7 people with us and all plates were cleaned.... Kudos.

Ate outside and were worried about the heat but the umbrellas were positioned nicely. The food was divine, especially the daily specials. The service was relatively quick and the atmosphere, with a Thursday evening concert in the park across the street, was wonderful.
