We ate here on Friday Oct. 20. Bartender was super friendly. Highly recommend the clam chowder, best we've ever had. I had the Grouper special and it great. My wife had the Tuna, was super pleased, cooked perfect and not many places get it right. They did. Chef was great to talk to. She explained a lot as we sat at the bar waiting for our food. Backyard bar was our kind of place. The band had to cancel because of rain but It would have been a great place to see one. Will go back next time we are in Duck. Thanks for a great experience.

We were able to bring our two pups to dinner with us, which is very important to us. Our waitress brought them water many times. Food was amazing. Would highly recommend!

Love this special little place and the seafood and salads together turn out. Have been going and returning for years. This year the warm.mushroom salad had changed. We won't spoil the surprise but do not fear it is still n excellent. We like the outside seating just fine. The booths by the bar are also fun. Be sure to stop in.

Caught it at good time not busy on a Sunday night.Just wanted a couple of apps clam chowder was so good we had to take some home. Scallop app wonderful. Waitress exuberant and helpful. It was great

Place looks run down and the need to repair the tables that are outside up front, but the food was great and our server was very attentive. In our group of 8, there was not one complaint about the food or service. I would definitely try to check this restaurant out again the next time I am in Duck.

Food was mediocre at best. The only side option for any dish is pasta salad which is very weird. The atmosphere is dark and uninviting. There was dust and spider webs in the corners. Our server had ZERO personality, she didn’t say her name. She told us the special which was a chicken sandwich and said… ‘it’s just a chicken sandwich’. Lol. She’s not even trying at this point. Ordered 2 margaritas and they had no alcohol in them. It was bitter with just lime juice. Had to add sugar packets! They also rimmed the glass with table salt. Who does that?! We won’t be back

We love this place! Food is always spot-on and delicious, and not swamped with people. Quirky shabby chic building and decor keeps the crowds down, I guess. Staff work hard and are very pleasant.
The Back Yard Bar at Roadside Bar and Grill in Duck, NC, was an absolute gem! The staff exuded fun and friendliness, instantly making me feel like a local rather than a tourist. The absence of a touristy vibe was refreshing. The outdoor fire pit added a cozy touch on a cool summer evening, creating the perfect ambiance. Live music only enhanced the experience, and the well-curated drink selection struck a perfect balance between variety and simplicity. It was the ideal spot to relax with a drink and unwind after a day at the shore. Highly recommended for a laid-back and enjoyable time!

Great place and great food. Gone here both times the past 2 years coming to OBX. Elaine was our server both times and she was great. Even with how packed it was she got our drinks on time and food was quick, was prompt on refills for drinks and bread.

We stopped by with our 3 young kids at around 1:30 on a Tuesday, thinking it wouldn't be super crowded for lunch. When we got to the host stand we realized there were a lot of people waiting, and it was very chaotic. Understood. If someone had just taken our names we would have waited outside with our kids. Instead, the host walked past us maybe 12 times without making eye contact. I was grabbing my kids close to make sure they didn't hit the servers as they knocked past us. We finally left after 20 minutes with no one ever speaking to us. Not okay!

Very good food and amazing service from this place until the waiter chased us out of the restaurant, 2 couples (separate bills) our bills together were about 300$ and we left a 45$ dollar tip in cash. (Approximately 33%) we were walking out of the restaurant and he confronted us with a 20 asking if this is all we left and visibly upset, we informed we left another 25 on the table (under some stuff so not just anyone could grab it but they could see it when they clear the table, with the other 20) and the waiter said he didn’t even want our money if that was all we were going to leave. So my fiancé handed him the rest of the cash we bought (another 15). But after we left post confrontation we thought about it more, we are all 21 and visibly intoxicated, I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt but all the money was together on the table, if he could grab the one 20 he could have had the other 25 with it. Unfortunately I can only think we were scammed… again food was excellent and service from that waiter was great until that point.

Has gone waaaaay downhill. CAN NO LONGER RECOMMEND-USED TO be my all time favorite seafood restaurant. USED TO recommend it to anyone headed to Duck / OBX.DRINKS - not great , sent back one suffered through othersFOOD - - soo disappointing. examples:- the last tine we are there the Halibut was presented in an excellent manner over rice or whatever with a glaze of sorts and the asparagus. NOW. Halibut is served with a large ball of plain rice and asparagus but no stacking no delicious glaze nor presentation- the “warm” mushroom salad used to be served warm and delicious. NOW it’s a spring salad vinaigrette with warm flavorless mushrooms dumped on top- the tuna steak , to have been medium rare was med well and flavorlessSERVICE - we were served one of the not good mushrooms salads without mushrooms. Took 2 minutes to get the mushrooms. They took it off meal. Has to track down server to get bill to leave. - Could not get out fast enough
