We went in for dinner on Friday night before the bad weather was supposed to start. We just happened to be the only people there! We sat at the bar, and had an amazing experience. The service, the food, the atmosphere, all top notch. We each had an old fashioned cocktail, which was delicious! We also had the filet, which was cooked to perfection. The flourless chocolate torte was rich and decadent, and perfectly presented with a candle for my birthday 🎂 This was not our first time here, and definitely won’t be our last. Highly recommend!

Went for New Years pre- fixed dinner. We had a 7pm reservation and got seated at 7:49pm. Once we sat. Service was fast and furious. Brought out the food and drinks without any explanations. Since we live in the neighborhood, we want to support the new chef. Food was really good but the service was poor at best. Little things matter—explain each wine pairing, tell us what we are eating for each course, don't ask us what course we are on, and then advertise a 20% discount for locals with in the system it says 10% per Tracy( bartender). Short staffed for sure but food was great—tell the chef to please stay!
It was a wonderful experience! Food was great and the staff was very friendly. Will go back next year!
We had the Chefs Taste on New Years Eve. The menu was 6 courses with wine pairings and was astonishingly good. We expected small portions due to the price point but were pleasantly surprised. Full glasses of wine and large portions. Almost too much. The chef, Sherman Harris I believe, came out to see how our meal was. We told him the food was exceptional and the pairings with the food were the perfect compliments. Can't wait to come back for Valentines Day when he does this again. The service stared off exceptional but as they got busier, it was not quite as good. They were all still very good but just didn't seem to pay as close attention to the tables. Nothing rude just glasses and /or plates not removed and no one stopping by to see if we needed anything. Maybe more staff for the next one. The atmosphere was amazing for most of the meal. Great view of the sunset. Then came the parents who allowed their children to jump around and yell. Not the restaurants fault but disturbing and annoying all the same. Overall this place is great. Excited to see what this chef comes up with next.
The food was wonderful and our service was good. It was cold in the dining room even with the fireplace going.
Wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with my family!! The food was great and the service was wonderful!! Merry Christmas
We have been to the Sanderling many times for Thanksgiving...I do not understand why they do not have dinner at the restaurant across the street like years ago...this should be in Vivians contract. We waited 50 minutes to get seated on Thursday night...the food was good but not sure we will do it again at this location....do not blame the staff but it was not how we have experienced the Sanderling at Thanksgiving so many years before. Also no Christmas decorations anywhere...what is going on??
Food was ok but not worthy of a return trip with the other options in the area.

Prime Rib Night at Life Saving Station was absolutely outstanding. Prime rib was cooked to perfection and the sides equally as delicious. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. If you’re a prime rib lover, this is the place to be. I’d give it more than five stars if I could. Can’t wait to come back!

Good food. So so atmosphere. Seating could be more comfortable. They are open, but based on lack of lit signage or other lighting, you'll think they are closed. They are missing out on a lot of business by not looking like they are open.
We went tonight for the Prime Rib night and needless to say, we know why it’s dead. The place needs a whole revamp. All we heard the entire evening is that our whole experience will be subpar because their building got hit by a lightning and it’s the system’s fault. What? I could not believe they’re even open.
They even blamed the lightning on why they couldn’t open the fireplace, the 2nd night that it’s been cold in Outer Banks, you can feel the draft in that restaurant.
I try and be reasonable but that whole attitude affected the entire dinner service. The prime rib got cold quickly, the server forgot about the au jus and had to request it. And it came out not hot at all. It’s not bad but it’s not the greatest food choice. You want people to drive to Sanderling, make it worthwhile.
I expected a lot from this place, this is attached to Sanderling. You can’t claim the fame of being #1 resort on Condé Nast when you lack on the F&B department. If nothing is working properly, close it. It’s not worth it.

Food and service was excellent. However, it was hard to enjoy as it was so very cold inside the restaurant. The fire place was not working and it seemed there is no other heat source in the restaurant. Food was very good but $70.00 for breakfast for two people is too much. Omelette did not come with toast or biscuit and it was an extra $7.00 for a biscuit.
The restaurant is a big disappointment. Food is ok, but not up to what one would expect at their prices and there is zero ambiance. Bright lights and lots of white dinette type furniture. Their upscale dining venue (Theodosia) is closed for the season so I guess they are trying to keep their guests fed as best they can. Food and beverages are VERY expensive and not unique in any way. Resort prices at a rather pedestrian venue. I do not recommend.
