Food was good. We sat at the bar on a Tuesday night thinking it would be too busy. But it was slow season so there was seating. Good seafood and service. Key lime pie was excellent.
The Paper Canoe never disappoints. We dined there again October 23rd this year and the experience was extraordinary. Our server Leslie was accommodating and delightful. Every aspect of the meal was extraordinary: all the food and drink; the ambience and atmosphere; the service; and the enjoyment. We highly recommend. Reservations also highly recommended all year. Will definitely repeat!
Small restaurant right on the Sound. Fantastic sunset views. Located a bit North of downtown Duck, closer to the Sanderling. Plenty of parking. Reservations are a must even during the shoulder seasons….even in the bar area. Coastal cuisine with a bit of a French European flair. No shortcuts taken by the chef or the servers is what sets this place a part—even an edible straw in the lemonade mocktail! Portions are huge especially given the food quality.
Food is incredible and they have a good wine list.

Spent a few days at The Sanderling and Paper Canoe is right across the street. Ate there twice it was so good.
I had the fried oysters both times, so hot and fresh and crispy. Also tried the shrimp and grits. I’m always interested in trying a new version, and this one was outstanding. The large blackened shrimp were excellent, and the grits were creamy.
The scallops and risotto were also especially good.
Hostess was very accommodating and got us in the second night we went without a reservation, and with only a short wait. Well worth it!
I’m sure reservations are a must in the summer.

Third time, third excellent experience. Get reservations - it’s packed even in the off season.
Leslie, our server, was absolutely top tier. Attentive, but discrete. Helpful, noticed the slightest issue with the table (replacing flatware nearly instantly), and genuinely fun to talk to.
We all swore the food was even better this year than last. Great wine list. Great grilled Romain salad, wedge salad, catch of the day (pompano), and killer shrimp and grits.
The only quibble I have is that it gets very loud when full (solid wood everywhere…floors, tables, all of it). At our table of 6, I couldn’t hear the guy at the other end. Invest in some sound deadening, please. But otherwise please keep up the magic!

Chicken Kiev was excellent, potatoes had a nutmeg taste which was a nice touch. Scallops were fresh, wished the risotto that came with was cooked with truffle oil. Mocktails were interesting and refreshing!

Incredible service, atmosphere and cuisine. Easy reservation for 9, responsive via text making things easy! Accommodating and attentive waitress who was just a professional and delightful.
We had my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner there in September. Jean Marc and Kara went out of their way to make everything perfect. The food was delicious and cocktails were excellent. Everyone has complimented my choice of restaurant and atmosphere. And the sunset!!! This was the perfect place! I can’t say enough about the staff that night, they were wonderful! Be sure and go to the Paper Canoe if you get a chance!

The mezcal margarita is the best 'rita I've ever had and I've had many. Food was top notch as was the service. Hands down, the Canoe is the best restaurant in Duck and the a unsets are fantastic.

First time here after vacationing in Duck for 15+ years. Food was excellent and one of the best meals of the week. Be aware when you make reservations that they actually reserve bar seats at the literal bar. I made a reservation for the bar as the dining room was booked and assumed it meant a table in the bar. But it meant two seats at the bar. Apparently the tables at the bar are listed as High-Top Bar, so be careful. I share similar concerns with the bartender who was sucking on a lollipop and seemed a little used car salesman to me. The vibe of the place is that it caters to the wealthy homeowners in the area as several locals came through and were fawned over. As Denis Leary once said “Pull that bus over to the side of the pretentiousness turnpike”. Many other more welcoming and down-to-earth options in Duck.
