The people were extremely friendly, service was fast. I got the strawberry crunch and turtle cheesecakes for my son's dad for his birthday. We all agreed they are amazing! They also offer Vegan options. The vegan cheesecakes are also offered at all Weaver Street locations and the Durham Co-op. Do yourself a favor and give them a try!

These cheesecakes are amazing. We had the Taffy Apple (recommended by the chef) and strawberry banana both were delicious but the favorite of the 2….Taffy Apple, so go get you some! I’m looking forward to my next visit to try more flavors.

I enjoyed a wonderful day in Durham yesterday, and AJ's Cheesecakes was the last stop. The shop is so inviting and the service was EXCELLENT! We ordered the mini strawberry crunch cheesecake! Out of this world! I'm a cheesecake lover. I've never had a cheesecake like that....the texture was so creamy and the strawberry flavor came through in every single bite. We also ordered the banana cake... amazing!...and a mini peach cobbler that I'll never forget. The spice combination in the cobbler was so unique and the crust was light and flaky. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you for a sweet ending to our day trip to the wonderfully diverse city of Durham!

The cheesecakes themselves were delicious, but unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The costs were confusing from the start, and communication was minimal – I had to reach out for details rather than them being proactive.
I ordered the cheesecakes for a specific pickup time for an event, expecting everything to be ready, but instead had to wait in my car in 90+ degree heat for 30 minutes while they packaged them up. On top of that, there was no mention that the cheesecakes would be frozen. By the time we served them, they still weren’t thawed, which was even more unfortunate.
If I had known they would be frozen, I would have adjusted the pickup time, but given how long the wait was, I’m not sure that would’ve solved the problem. Great product, but the process needs serious improvement.

These cheesecakes are literally SOOO amazing and delicious!! I also tried the Oreo brookie and it was fantastic as well. I would pay top dollar to taste that brookie straight out of the oven lol. The desserts are served cold/frozen which is perfectly fine by me! It doesn’t take long to thaw to a nice creamy texture for that cheesecake. For the sweet potato cheesecake, I would’ve loved a little more crunch on it like maybe an oat/granola crumble with vanilla extract, maple, and cinnamon on top of the sweet potato. Something with a crunch, I didn’t really expect it to be just sweet potato pie filling on top of cheesecake lol. Maybe in the future they’ll had something to it. Either way, it was still well executed and delicious, I would get it again. It would be especially delicious to someone who loves sweet potato pie.That pecan pie cheesecake looks amazing, will definitely be trying that one next. The brookie was better than expected, it had some nice chocolate chip pieces mixed in it which was a pleasant surprise. It was the best brookie I’ve ever had in my life.The desserts are super sweet so there’s no way I could finish it in one sitting— worth the money because it lasts a few days. Even if you eat it all at once, it’s still worth the money because the flavors are the BOMB! The location isn’t the best there was actually a crackhead outside my vehicle, but we are all human beings so if you think you’re “too good for the hood” then you’ll just miss out on greatness hahaha. As for me? I don’t mind the location. It is what it is. I notice people tend to mind their business in the hood…as long as you’re not in their business you’ll be just fine. It’s highly unlikely that you’ll get attacked by just trying to get some dessert lol. Really good, black owned, and unique. I can’t wait to go back :)

The inside was very small and the staff was very helpful and patient. They answered all our questions and we were i formed of a 20 min turn around time for order placed to actually having it in hand. We ordered the lemon cake, carrot cake, turtle cheese cake, and strawberry crunch cheese cake. Everything taste really good and fresh only downfall is they should add a little more icing.

First, expectations need to fit the atmosphere. Not a cafe. Don't expect to come and sit inside at a table with tea or something and a slice of cake. That's not what this is and it's not what most of us are looking for.
Really good cheesecake. Other popular black owned businesses in the plaza as well. Our neighborhood is fortunate to have AJs. Customer service is also always on point. And we are here often.
However, the cheesecake is always frozen. Don't plan on getting this and eating it the same day. You'll have to let it sit in your fridge for at least 16 hours. (I come here alot, trust me, I know the exact time frame for defrost lol.) This is probably the #2 best cheesecake place in Durham. (Again, this is literally the only dessert I eat, I've tried them all.)

Small quaint business with bold presence. The young singlehandedly takes and fills all orders, even door dash. She kept a pleasant demeanor and she really kept the line moving. My mom is a baker & was so excited to try this small business we drove a good ways to make it there after seeing it on IG. The customer service was not welcoming at all. When someone comes to spend their hard earned money and support a business the least you can do is greet them when coming in. The cake was thick dry and the Duncan Hines icing being used was too sweet. We asked for cheesecake but got cake. The cinnamon rolls were so hard you could only eat the middle. Just an overall bad experience. Had never been there before and will never go back.

Whewwwww we where do we start! First of all we were at the door and rung the bell they proceeded to act like they didn’t see us when I know they heard the bell. Then I called they answered and said that we can just open the door so we still came in after the tone on the phone wasn’t welcoming at all. We go in and we are asking questions getting one word answers and was not greeted when we walked in she sat down and scrolled on her phone. She was frustrated about her day but that doesn’t have anything to do with customers change your hours then! The cakes weren’t nothing to jump up and down about they were frozen and just thrown together. Supporting our people becomes so hard with encounters as such. For $15 for a mediocre cheesecake we should be greeted with top tier customer service in this messed up economy. We will not be returning and will tell my family that wants to travel over 1hr and 30 mins to try it not to either.
