This Whole Foods Market near Duke University has lots of vegetarian choices in the restaurant. The hot bar is big and there are salads as well as dessert choices. They have good vegan cookies for dessert, which is a treat. The only negative was that some of the cashiers at this store are, occasionally, less than friendly and helpful . In addition, there is usually an armed guard on duty (typically an off-duty police officer), which is something you don't see at most other Whole Foods Markets around the country.

Major credit for this groceries for all that they've done during COVID-19. It was one of the first grocery stores to implement precautions during this time. I feel very safe going in there and the staff is always incredibly nice.

This location is your family friendly trusted Whole Foods. As others have commented, this Whole Foods is a "baby" one. Not as large as the one on Wade Avenue and certainly not as large as the mecca of Chapel Hill. But it works. And it's convenient. Nestled right along the Duke wall and nearby some famous hotspots, Mad Hatters and Heavenly Buffalo, it's a great location to snag fresh and organic essentials. I have probably been here over 50 times and it always has what you need. From delicious kombucha to vegan cheese to organic rotisserie chickens to grass fed steaks. My favorite thing I buy is organic kale. I am obsessed with kale and no other store has such a hearty leafy bouquet as Whole Foods does. It's really impressive. Though I will say, different farms supply the kale year round so your experience might not be the same. I've included a picture of my most recent bounty of organic kale, 11 bunches - so fresh and so crispy and crunchy! So satisfying! I also recently used the delivery service. It took me weeks to snag a deliver time tho. At the beginning of COVID, the Whole Foods section on Amazon dot com would brag about same day delivery but they seem to have been slammed with interest. So due to COVID, I think there was a bit of uncertainty of dashers along with a huge demand that didn't jive well but I'm happy to see that it's sorted out and delivery slots don't seem to be a problem now as I received my order within 3 hours of making the order online. Spent over $35 and got free delivery to my doorstep, it was organized, prompt and contactless, a plus during these times of social distancing. Great value, as always.

Honestly, the perfect size Whole Foods Market in Durham! Not too big or too small, just straight to the point. It can get really busy here so plan accordingly. Especially, when school is in session. The summer tends to be empty. The parking lot is huge and can accommodate a lot of cars. The customer service here is fantastic and everyone is usually helpful.

Store is well stocked. There was a fairly large line to get in as the store is limiting the number of customers in at one time. A mask is required as well.

Cheese, hot bar, meat are great. This is a better store overall than Chapel Hill location.

Come any time of day, and you will be offered a huge variety of deliciously-prepared, healthful foods. There are homemade soups, a salad bar with fruits and vegetables, hot dishes from different countries depending on the day. And don't forget breakfast which is offered in a large buffet. There is also fresh pizza, rotisserie chicken, and olive bar, a wonderful bakery and deli offering fresh meat and cheese. There are also many dishes to choose from if you want to take home prepared meals.

I call this location a baby Whole Foods - a smaller store but has everything you'd expect to find. Aisles are cramped but it is pretty fast to get through the store and find things you are looking for. Good wine selection and friendly employees!

Located near Duke and usually very busy, which makes the parking lot fill up fast. Not as big as the location in Chapel Hill and definitely way smaller than the new location in West Cary. Okay, you know you're going to get decent produce and natural goods, but the prices are too high for many -- a common complaint about "Whole Paycheck" in general. Perhaps if you're in the neighborhood or need a specific item they carry, this will suit you. Otherwise, save your money and go to Sprouts or another store.

Located on the outskirts of Duke's East campus and student housing -- this Whole Foods market is a corporate clone of many others I've been to with one big exception: it's got southern flair! You can get your bbq Jones sated here -- plenty of all the traditional Q including brisket, pulled pork, all sorts of sides, etc. etc. Strangely enough, the bbq brisket tasted as good if not better than the Q I ate at Bullock's -- the local original. I think this is probably because in this part of NC, folks drown their brisket in tomato based bbq sauce -- not exactly my thing. The breakfast spread was very good -- scrambled eggs were fluffy and all manner of sides were available -- including the omnipresent food group known to all Southern yutes as grits. ;) WF breakfast buffet and my favorite brand of kombucha made me very happy. Plenty of Duke students hanging around getting a break from campus dining across the street, and even one Duke dad appeared to be schooling his daughter in what looked like some advanced math. Nice.

Some fresh food. The hot bar is full of canola oil, which is damaging to the body. The mustard beer potatoes have propylene glycol, which is highly dangerous. The environmentally friendly compostable cardboard boxes at the hot bar are being replaced by plastic tv dinner boxes.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, right? Well here's mine: Parking: 5 Location: 4 Decor/ambiance: 4 Customer Service: 5+ I happen to be a huge fan of Whole Foods across the city! I think they are all phenomenal. Yesterday I caught myself in a strange part of Durham that i'm not the most familiar with. I used Siri to direct me to the nearest Whole Foods and landed at the doorstep of this location. The parking and location are cool. The store isn't as new or renovated as some of the others in the are but they have the same great products. We went to the bakery area where they sell the pre-made meals. We were greeted by Floyd. WOW... this guy was amazing! His desire to help was so welcoming. He assisted my wife and I making suggestions on what foods go well with one another. He even gave us some tips on preparing the meals. All of the professional advice he gave us made a big impact. I look forward to coming back and grabbing more meals with Floyd! A powerful 5 star experience!
