Great place for a fun vibe with cool cocktails. The crowd really varies (from college kids to older adults) depending on the night and if there's a DJ or what kind of music they're playing but it's still always fun! It can get busy on the weekends.

We've been here twice so far since moving to NC 7 months ago from NYC. While searching for good vibes, this place reminded us of places in NYC and we decided to try it out.
The place is unique, and the music was decent. Their cocktail drink menu is extensive, which I think has its downside, if everyone ordered a specialty drink, the service will tend to be slower.
Our first time we came a few months ago, the place was pretty busy, which was good. There were available seats at the bar too. Our first round of drinks was quick, but the second one took longer than expected. It was so long we ended up leaving after the second drink.
We recently visited again and wanted to give it another shot. It's been a few months, and maybe it'll be different. This time, it was pretty quiet (still early in the night). Once again, first round of drinks came relatively fast. However, the second and we stayed for a third took too long. There was one point, I made eye contact a few times, tried to smile to get their attention, and nothing. It probably took a good 15-20 minutes (it felt like 30) to get another round, and it wasn't busy.
The drinks are decent there and again, like the vibes, the service may need some improvement. Perhaps I'm just used to NYC pace. We tried to give it another chance, I'm sure we'll be back, it may be a while before we come back.

We had a blast here at their New Year’s Eve party! The atmosphere was great, fun music, and the staff went above and beyond. We made a mistake while getting the tickets and Daniel really helped us out which saved our night!

The lighting is just right, the music sets the perfect tone, and the seating is cozy but not cramped — it’s the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time while enjoying great conversation or just relaxing on your own.
The service at Annexe is absolutely superb. The staff is friendly, attentive, and really knows their stuff. Whether you’re there for a casual drink or a full meal, they make sure you feel taken care of without being overbearing.
Speaking of drinks, the cocktails are top-tier. Each one is expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and a lot of care. From classic concoctions to innovative new blends, Annexe definitely knows how to mix a drink that suits your taste. It's the kind of place where you can trust the bartender to surprise you with something new, and it’ll likely become your new favorite.
The only downside I’d mention is the broccoli — it was a bit greasy for my taste. It could definitely use a lighter touch, but that's a minor gripe in an otherwise stellar experience.
Overall, Annexe is definitely a spot I’ll return to for its unbeatable vibe, fantastic drinks, and outstanding service. Highly recommended if you're in the mood to unwind in style!

Cassie was our bartender tonight and she was so great! Personable, authentic, and truly cared equally about our experience and her employer. The charcuterie was totally yummy and paired beautifully with my Earl Grey martini. My love had the burger special and a great beer from Burial. Cool tiki vibe. Great date night getaway.

I had the absolute worst service! I have been a patron of Bar Virgile for many years. It is in my top 5 of best restaurants in Durham. My partner and I had the unfortunate luck of being seated in The Annexe as Bar Virgile was full. We witnessed people come in well after us and given immediate service while we waited and waited and waited. I was met with indifference when I asked for the status of my food order after waiting for 45 min. There was NO apology and no attempt to make our experience better. As a small business owner and long time resident in Durham, this felt personal.

10/10 experience! My lady's words were "I want to go somewhere with great steak or ribs". Annexe had BOTH, paired with the availability of crafted cocktails for prices so reasonable you have to have a couple!
Service was welcoming and accommodating of my desire to take in the venue's feng shui, snap a couple pictures, and curiosity of the bars history. Located in a cozy basement on a corner that hosts a few establishments under the same corporate umbrella, this spot is a must not skip!
We had the Steak Frites dinner and the Short Rib dinner. Both were cooked to perfection, with taste lacking in nothing. We came for the food and drinks, but were informed that the place turns into a little party vibe at 10pm.
We will return. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

We found this upscale tiki bar sort of by accident but really loved it. I have been very underwhelmed recently from bar experiences where the prices are high and the drinks are average. However, the bartenders make really great cocktails and the prices are on point. The music is at the right volume for conversation and the bar has an excellent vibe. Highly recommend it!

This place has it all: outstanding food; creative, delicious, reasonably priced cocktails and mocktails; friendly and attentive service; two turntables and/or a killer playlist. VIBE. Can’t wait to go back.
Parking: I believe the deck next door is free after 7:00pm like the others in Durham? Though, they will charge $5 I think when there’s a DPAC event on.
