Okay, I’m torn on whether or not to share this. Azteca deserves all the props and business, but I don’t want y’all ruining it.
The BEST margaritas in Durham. Truly, the hibiscus marg rivals Kingfisher. All homemade ingredients, even the hibiscus syrup.
The pozole is AMAZING, especially at this time of year.
And it’s been around for almost 20 years, before the “revitalizing” of Durham, so it’s OG.

Came here with a craving for grilled jalapenos and they delivered . They had great hot sauces, their gordita super crunchy and delicious. Folks were really kind and portions were generous. Paid for chips but it was nice and fresh with the guac My one complaint is the birria soup was just ok .but gorditas beware, I'll be back. The place is in a relaxed setting with a bar

This is the cliche “hole in the wall” restaurant where the food will knock your socks off! So, so good!! The tortilla chips are freshly made, and so delicious. To top it all off, the staff are super friendly. Great place to eat authentic Mexican.

Best Mexican hands down in the RTP. We’ve been looking for good Mexican (since we lived in Texas) for 8 years and only just found Azteca. They make their food from scratch with family recipes and the staff is very nice!
