I had been meaning to try this spot for some time. As luck would have it, I was in the area for a different event and convinced the group to try out this spot. First off, you scan the qc code for the menu and to order. No cash was accepted. I didn't have a problem with this, but one of the crew did as they only had cash. We went at about lunchtime but the place was not busy and the workers were very attentive. Overall all, I enjoyed the food. Can it beat out grandma on the island, of course not. But, I liked the offering and was pleased with the visit. Plus, no one beat Grandma. Lol

OMG..the empanadas are delicious! Richard is everything! He's so knowledgeable and entertaining. Serena came out and talked to us, and gave us the history of the murals, the restaurant name and the food. It was truly an experience. I will be back for sure.

We were looking for a dinner place for our son's birthday in Durham. Found Boricua online, the menu looked interesting where everyone had a few choices. They were out of chicken salad which id a good indicator it is good. But the items we got, from empanadas to the platter, were tasty. I like the bbq pork but the beef & chicken were good as well. Inside seating is limited but we got there at the end of the evening rush as the crowd thinned out.Parking: Free parking on the weekend.

The food is so good. I love that they actually have good tasting vegetarian options. The jackfruit is soooo good. The rice and peas are soo good. Their tostones are sooo good, and seasoned to beyond perfection. My only complaint is I wish they were open everyday, and I wish they had more indoor seating, but with the space it makes sense that they can’t add more seating. I don’t like vegetables, but their collard greens are out of this world good!Vegetarian options: They have jack fruit, rice and peas, macaroni and cheese, collards, and vegetarian empanadas.Dietary restrictions: They have jack fruit, macaroni and cheese, collards, and vegetarian empanadas.

Everything in the Boricua bowl was amazing, especially the plantain and pork. Visited on the Taste of Carolina tour and it was the best stop!
Serena! Thank you from the weepy birthday girl on 1/26. Everything was perfect! All that you offered was THE highlight of my weekend. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Quaint spot nestled in a bustling urban center. He had the bowl and I shared a few bites (pretty good and added jerk chicken wings (not impressed - good flavor but may have been overcooked). Still, a nice place to dine before a show and the staff were friendly and helpful.
