Totally failed consistently to over the last few visits at multiple locations. Yet, I keep going back! Has been my favorite casual restaurant since childhood and keep hoping for improvement. They are showing me who they are and I need to believe them. RIP Captain D's.

After a recent visit to this store I wondered why the hush puppies were like sendered horribly tasting as if in days way beyond oil change.
Also I'm adding this paragraph after I had posted, and that is about the fish two pieces of a three-piece dinner we're just fine but the third piece looked odd and when I took a bite of it it seemed to be some sort of piece of leftover junk it was horribly tasting and I threw it out the window.
And unfortunately I cannot add a picture of what should be the normal golden yellowish brown colored hush puppy with a tender center compared to the brown deep brown colored incinerated in my opinion version found in Durham.
However the picture you see below is of a nice as I recall Captain D's normal golden fried hush puppies with tender Center This I encountered when passing through Wytheville, VA.

I was a little upset that I couldn’t order online, but the service made up for it. The staff were great; nice, but they didn’t let customers hold up the line or slow down business. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly.
Great freshly cooked fish that surprised me, the spicy pollock fish filet was surprisingly delicious.

BUYER BEWARE….It has probably been two years since I stopped at this Captain D’s. I was in the area and in the past they have always been known to have good food made to order but only this day in my opinion it was some of the worst fish and chicken, hush puppies, and corn, I have ever purchased at this location. I don’t know what is happening, but the taste and the quality of the food has really changed. I’m not from this area and by the time I was able to taste I was too far down the road going 64 E. in afternoon traffic to turn around and take this back I was so disappointed and angry and didn’t even call the manager, which is totally out of my character. Wasted my hard earned money on some takeout food and I was so disappointed. I have told several people about this encounter I just wish I had Told the establishment on that day, but I was so upset that I may not have used or been in good character. Had I spoken with someone at captain D’s
