My daughter is an incoming freshman at NCCU and we came down to move her into school. We searched for best fried chicken in the area and The Chicken Hut came up. We arrived at 1145am and as soon as we walked in the front door we were greeted with a smile. I’m not going to lie this was definitely a great start for this experience. It was so many choices and what the server explained to us is that the menu changes everyday but they always have fried chicken. We got the 4 wings with mac, cabbage and hushpuppies. The chicken wings were out of this world and so were the sides. The hushpuppies had corn inside and this was the first time I’ve tried them like that but they were hot and good. We passed on dessert but definitely will try one next time. Only recommendation is please stay open later!

Everything is great. What else is there to say? The fried foods are cooked to order, and the sides are seasoned extremely well. A well-rounded, great soul food meal. I can’t wait to come back the next time in Durham. One thing to note, they are cash only, so be prepared for that.

Came in after seeing a Facebook post about their food — definitely glad I did! The fried chicken was super tasty, and the staff were kind and welcoming. The lady at the front register had such a genuine smile, it really added to the experience. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m not someone who usually leaves reviews but I had heard so much about this place. First off I live in Apex, NC so with the lunch hours I always miss them but this Friday I was off and finally had the chance to try them out! To my surprise it was oxtail day and let me tell you they were very tender and the gentlemen put so many on my plate I had enough for lunch and some still left for dinner. I also tried the fried chicken and it took about 10 minutes to come out but once we received the fried chicken it was very hot and delicious. Wanted to try the fried fish but we already had so much food. The sides we had were the mac and cheese and cabbage and yams. The service was outstanding. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked thru the front door! Chicken Hut it was a delight to finally have a chance to try you and we will definitely be back. Thank you also for the free piece of cake you gave us for it being our first time!

Worst food I ever had in my life. Went there for a repass of my gf family member who used to work there. They fed the family and the food wasn't seasoned at all. The best thing they had that tasted good was the peach cobbler. I wouldn't waste your time eating there.
