Best Italian food in the Triangle. Great ambiance and service. Only place in the Triangle that serves fresh authentic Italian Truffles plus amazing wine selection.

Took my girlfriend for dinner after years of not visiting Convivio and time has not been kind to this once great restaurant. We entered Convivo to a very loud band at the front of the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess who showed us to a table at the entry of the restaurant right next to the very loud band. Asked for another table and were shown to the bar. Looked back at the open kitchen and noted that the chef was not in the house, just his sounds chef and prep chef-surprised. Offered a drink menu and ordered some wine, which was great and from there it went down hill. Show table and the music was so loud and there were several sets of feedback from the band that sent shivers down my spine with fingers on the chalkboard sensation. Our waitress was new and we could not hear her, and she did not know how to service our table-from not hearing us to not checking on us, or offering suggestions or any kind of service. We ordered the fresh pasta a the risotto and both were just ok, the risotto was sent back because the rice was hard and under cooked. While the second risotto was better it was no where near the quality and flavor that it should have been. Oh, forgot, ordered the bread and olive oil, which, sadly, was the highlight of the meal. My GF and I would not recommend Convivio in the future.

This was such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was so romantic and perfect for a date night. Can't say enough about the food! Everything so well seasoned and fresh. Dessert can't be miss, the almond cake is delicious. You have to give this spot a visit.
We live in downtown Durham within walking distance to this restaurant. We really want to like it , but unfortunately every visit has been disappointing. The owner is extremely condescending and arrogant which I might excuse if the food was exceptional , but it is not. Overpriced mediocrity. There are so many great restaurants in Durham, this is not one .

I absolutely love this place! I love coming for special occasions or just for a quick dinner with a friend or loved one. It is truly authentic Italian food, and among the best I’ve had outside of Italy! The staff are also incredibly kind and attentive. I come as often as I can and still can’t get enough!!

Nice restaurant in Durham. Everything is a la cart and portions are VERY small. Food was good. Dropped 150 (for 2, a few drinks but nothing crazy) without tip and was hungry when I left (unexpected at an “italian” restaurant). Probably will not be back.
