The food is always so delicious, fresh, and has a unique flavor profile. Everything I’ve tried from the pork schnitzel, gnocchi, smash burger, wings, etc. you can never make a wrong decision. Today I also tried the lemon cheesecake. AMAZING.

Ordered a Gin Bombay Gimlet, a little more sour than I liked leaning hard on the citrus. You really had to look for the hibiscus notes that were stated in the description. The menu seemed very straightforward. However, it was kinda like a surprise for some dishes. Example: Fried Shrimp with a sauce. That was actually shrimp wonton's fried with a sauce. There's room for improvement. We might have ordered those if it had been written out. It was like you needed to be ‘in know'. Dinner was the burger & Ribeye. Both were outstanding, well seasoned, cooked perfectly, arriving with the perfect amount of wait time. We look forward to going back.
Visited for Sunday brunch. Pretty slow and inattentive service, although the waitress was nice. Limited menu with few decent GF options. Food was fine, but more expensive than it should have been. Ambiance felt a little off from what I remember from previous visits years ago. The sculptures are nice! They should probably get new management for the restaurant that will demand attentive service and make prices more competitive with the better options nearby.
The burger wings and fries were solid. Ingredients tasted fresh. The milk bread with the whipped honey was the star of the show, though. I could probably eat it everyday.

Amazing food made with fresh ingredients! We had such a wonderful dinner that we went there for breakfast the next day. We tried their award winning biscuits and were impressed again by the food! Beautiful atmosphere as well. If we come back to Durham, we would stay at this hotel again to enjoy the delicious restaurant and beautiful artwork.
Tried smoked salmon bagel for brunch. VERY disappointed. Looked like the cook ran next door to Brugels Bakery then fried the salmon on the flattop grille.
Not good at all
Virtually no atmosphere we we ate around 12:30.
Server was acting as hostess, waitress, cashier and busboy all at the same time.
Dinner may be different but brunch? Not good

Went there for brunch. Ordered the Bankers Breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage with sourdough toast. Eggs and sausage were barely lukewarm and the sourdough was barely toasted . The potatoes were hot and crisp and very good. Service was good, on the leisurely side. Restaurant was about half full. I can possibly understand leisurely service and some lukewarm food at a very busy time but the place was far from bustling. I was hosting 2 acquaintances and did not feel comfortable complaining. I may try again at dinner as it is close to DPAC but not likely to try brunch again.
We had a 7pm reservation. I had to check a few times and finally sat at 7:20. Service started great but declined quickly. Food came out fairly quick but they gave one of our entrees to another table so had to wait for that one. Drinks came out wrong 3 times. Don't get me wrong, everyone was very polite and accommodating. I am chalking this up to be short staffed. Now the food. The Peach Salad, the pickled veggies and the Japanese break were how we started the meal and they were all fantastic so we were excited for the entrees, We all got different food. The Roasted Chicken - Very tender and tasty but a bit spicy. Gnocchi - Added Chicken was necessary. It was good but was almost soup like as the cream filled the bowl. Pork Schnitzel - This is the one we waited for and I thinked they rushed it out. It's basically fried pork chop and was overcooked and dry. Whole Branzino - This was the Dayboat fish. I'll prefice this with I've eaten and fileted a lot of fish in my day. This fish was delicious! But....the way it was cut, it was a lot of work picking the bones out. This is a very cool restaurant inside a museum hotel. I've eaten at several of these and they are always fun. Would I go back, maybe but they have some work to do.
Our server, Henry, was the best - giving us detailed descriptions of all the dishes and coming back often to make sure all was well. The food was fabulous! My friend and I started out with raw oysters - Counting House had 3 varieties available. The 2 we ordered were fresh and tasted just as Henry had described. I had the branzino for my entree. It was served whole, grilled perfectly, moist and almost buttery tasting. The by-the-glass wine list was brief but paired with the food choices well. We were there very early because we were going to a show at DPAC so there were very few patrons. As a result the noise level was low. I would definitely return.
Great drinks in a cool atmosphere

This is a hotel restaurant. The food is so so, the pastries are terrible, and the service is indifferent.
We had a private room of 10 with the most fun and professional server, Pip! Pip explained all the dishes in great detail and we ordered her suggestions! We started with the Japanese Honey buns and then the chargrilled oysters! Both perfection!😍
Then our table had absolutely NO Complaints of their entrees of gnocchi, pork schnitzel, rib eyes, tomato-peach salad (fresh and divine) and Black Forest cake and lemon curd cheesecake! All was fabulous and the atmosphere was sophisticated and cozy! Our favorite restaurant so far while we were touring the area! 🤩😍

Hotel food. Server and other staff were great. Ambiance middling. Food meh. Had gnocchi, which was overwhelmed by a raw garlic flavor. “Confit Wings” app is a fancy name for “wings.” Put a bright red maraschino cherry in my Manhattan, which was $17 for the bourbon, $1.50 for “Manhattan,” and $2 for the ice cube, all broken out on the bill.
The food was good. Everything else was average or below. It should be nicer and more professional than it is.
Overall, the experience was nice. Fries came out room temperature, but we notified our waiter, and he brought news one out that were hot. The ribeye was good, as well as the smashed burger. The cocktails were good. We were going to DPAC afterwards, so only a few blocks away. Very convenient.
