Well, the wait was too long. Chicken legs were undercooked, and then they brought me another plate, and there were feathers on all three chicken legs. SMH. The mac and cheese was okay. Waitress was

Pros: 1) Dame's has the best chicken and waffles I've ever tasted. 2) Cocktails are fabulous. 3) Mac and cheese is well seasoned.Con: The service is quite lackluster. After we were seated, we waited for over thirty minutes for our server to appear and take our order. In the meantime, the two parties who were seated after us already had their servers giving them their drinks and placing their orders. For context, we made sure to come after the Saturday brunch rush around 1:30 pm. About 1/3 of the restaurant had open tables so it was not terribly busy. Not sure if this is something a lot of other folks have experienced.Overall, the food outweighed the wait time. I would still come back again, but I would plan extra time to account for all of the waiting.

The food is amazing. The waffle with vanilla almond butter and Calypso drizzle are a breathtaking combination. The chicken cutlet is fried and seasoned to perfection. The food is worth the price of admission, the customer service, not so much. There was an actual issue with sending back a side order of mac n’ cheese. If an item is not to the standard of the customer, it is the establishment’s obligation to make sure the customer is taken care of without apprehension. The manager begrudgingly brings over a replacement side dish, and this ruined the experience, as he chastises us claiming “the recipe has been the same for 14 years.”

Was very excited to visit this restaurant after the hearing the hype for it around Durham. My partner and I got there shortly after opening and were seated quickly and our server was attentive. He mentioned a sandwich special to us that sounded fab and my partner decided to order it. When our food arrived, a completely different sandwich and side was placed in front of them and they were told that the kitchen was actually not serving the side they previously said they would with the sandwich. My partner did not even realize this was not the sandwich they ordered until a bite or two (it left much to be desired, they did not like it..). Eventually Dame himself came over and let us know we were told the incorrect sandwich special and offered to provide my partner with the side actually wanted which was very kind, but no one offered to replace this sandwich or entree which was completely different from what they ordered.(it was very spicy and my partner cannot stomach spicy food, so it was mostly left uneaten. If my partner actually knew what the sandwich actually was they would have not have ordered it at all). Overall upset to have had to pay for food that we did not order or even enjoy.

Crispy chicken, large waffles, reasonable prices, nice staff. There is really nothing to complain about this place. The food menu is 1 page, but packs a lot of variations of waffles and other breakfast / lunch food. The interior is nice and clean with a bar in the middle. Next time I go I'd try the cinnamon waffle.Parking: Free parking available at the baseball field <5min away or paid street parking closer by. There is also parking garage maybe 7 min away if all the closer parking spots are taken.

Absolutely phenomenal! The chicken breading is so good and pairs perfectly with their waffles and variety of butters. The spiked coffees and sides were also delicious. Couldn't name a better brunch spot. Plus our server, Issac, was so friendly and hospitable!

Rotten spoiled strawberry shmear sent with my waffle. I couldn’t even eat my food. I poured on my food and thought it looked odd. Then I could smell that it was rotten.

I don’t give everyone 5 stars but I had to here.If you are lucky enough to catch a nice breeze, the smell from inside should pull you right on in. This place is beyond awesome with cleanliness, service and food speaks volumes. It was worth the 3 hour drive and I highly recommend them.

The waffle was thick and soggy, like yesterday's batter. Oh, they opened late due to lack of chicken inventory. C'mon really, people had reservations and it was cold standing outside. Totally unprofessional. I wasn't impressed with this mess.

Food was supposed to be ready for pick up at 4:30. 2 tables occupied in the whole restaurant so they were not busy. They kept saying 5 more minutes. Food didn’t come out until 5:10. 35 minutes into my wait, they apologize and say the order didn’t go through. Well next time tell folks that upfront because we would not have waited around 40 plus minutes and missed our plans. No partial refund, not even a free drink offered for the additional wait. Terrible service.

This was not a pleasant experience. Our waitress was very attentive, but the cooks and the manager were horrible. We ordered the Mac and cheese, and it was cold. The waitress told the cooks, and they had the nerve to say what you wanted us to do. Then they brought out another, and it was cold. Our waitress had to ask the manager what to do, and he had the nerve to say he didn't know. So our waitress had to warm it up in the microwave. With this bad experience, I will not patronize this restaurant again. Then, to top it off, the cooks had the nerve to leave the kitchen to see who complained and had the nerve to shake their heads. I seriously hope the management reads this and addresses it.

We went here for dinner on a Friday night just before 6. We ordered the waffle dishes with wings and legs (no cutlets), had greens, mac & cheese, and cheese grits as sides, and the strawberry and peach lemondaes. The waitress was nice and very familiar with the menu. The food came out quickly, but the trade off was that it was barely warm. Had she waited another 2 minutes, the food would have been cold. The wings were cooked well - good flavor and crispiness - the legs looked old though. The waffles had really good flavor (again, would have been MUCH BETTER were they HOT), barely needed the schmear or syrup. The cheese grits were BARELY ok, the greens were good - a little spicy - and they must have scraped the pan to give me the last of the mac and cheese. And again, we all agreed the food would have probably been REALLY GOOD had it been hot.Overall, I'll come back to give them another chance. But I'll know to ask them to make the wings and waffles fresh next time.Parking: If you want to park close (within 1 walking block), prepare to pay before 6. If you don't mind walking, you can find street parking north and west of the restaurant.
