The food at Dulce is always good but I never feel like I’m treated with any degree of kindness by the people working there, one in particular. My three year old accidentally knocked their beverage off the table while trying to grab their fork (sitting outside, in a plastic to go cup, with no customers at the neighboring table) and was yelled at by said staff (yelled, genuinely) because they would “have to wash the sidewalk”. My child was called rude. Again, the food is good but I won’t be going back.

Pastries are incredible and always freshly baked. Their take on an almond croissant is unique and fantastic - it’s flaky classic croissant on the outside, and a more spongy, buttery, dough inside.

Coffee is also great- my only complaint is the lack of flexibility, particularly in online ordering (adding multiple extra shots, adjusting sweetness, flavors, etc.). They do have a good selection of non-dairy milks and hot/cold options.

Service is quick on weekdays and a bit slower on weekend mornings when the weather is nice, and the employees are always friendly.

Never tried their cakes or other non-breakfast sweets but they are a work of art just to look at.

Vegetarian options: Non-dairy milk

I’m not sure if it was because i walked in at around 7:30pm, but I did not feel welcomed. I was with my older sister and 1 year old nephew. They also got the vibe of not being wanted. The iced latte was good, I liked that they use a local roaster but it was my first time in and I was unable to immediately find the drink menu. The barista seemed visibly annoyed when I ordered. As a former barista, this place felt cold. Maybe it has a different vibe in the earlier shifts. Maybe I’ll try again at an earlier time, but not soon.

Best bakery in the Durham-Chapel Hill area. Much better than Guglhupf IMHO. The warm muffins are to die for. The gelato is the only real Italian gelato in the area, and the sandwiches are just fantastic.

They also have luxurious and decadent desserts that will please the eyes and your tastebuds.

The lunch menu was full of light and fresh options. The food was delicious. The sweets, on the other hand, looked too good to eat.

This is a lovely place to have lunch with friends or colleagues. Be sure to try one of their amazing desserts! I ordered a tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich combo, and it was an elevated meal - not something you find on a kids' menu.

Have been looking for a good place that has sumptuous cakes and I think I have finally found the one. Loved the wide range of choices of cakes offered at this cafe. Really impressed by the number of options and variety. Every option looked delectable. We had the Murano cake and the coffee eclair. Both were delicious. The mirror glaze on the Murano cake was perfect. The sponge cake and the coffee mousse were also delicious. Would love to come back to try the other options. They also serve a wide variety of beverages and breakfast food. The cafe is spacious and has a nice and quiet ambience. The choice of music is calming and not obtrusive. I think I will come back for the ambience too. Really glad that I have found this place. Wonderful spot to order a cup of tea, a delicious cake, and read a book in peace and quiet in an aesthetic ambience.

Love it, but can be full of screaming kids if you go at the wrong time. Employees can be wonderful or rude. It’s a toss up. Desserts are amazing!

People know about this place for the desserts, but did you know they have dinner? It is my secret dinner spot to dine al fresco with friends.
