We had a wonderful dinner at the Fairview Dining Room located in the Washington Duke Inn in Durham, NC. Our server, Cameron, did an excellent job of being attentive but also let us have time to enjoy each course. He recommended a great wine and we also enjoyed the Sea Bass he recommended. The piano player also set the tone for the evening. This was our first time in Durham, but when our travels take us back we will definitely come back to the Fairview Dining Room.

From start to finish a delightful dinner with my son and granddaughter. Our server couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable and helped keep my granddaughter happy. The food was delightful.

Ambience was impacted by the renovation—no views of courtyard or golf course. Dining experience was great.

Nicholas, our server was fabulous. My asparagus salad was quite good, although pricey for what it entailed.

The crab cakes were delicious and the service by Nicholas was superb. He was courteous, professional, and very attentive. Please see that my comments are included in his personal file and periodic review.

Great as always a bit disappointing that the windows were all covered. I prefer light even if it is looking over a patio reconstruction

We came to have dinner before the football game and were surprised that the usual pre-game fare was not on the menu. Selection was very limited and pricier than previously. Service was quite poor. Disappointing experience compared to prior visits, of which there have been many. As an alumni, I am frequently in Durham and dine here almost exclusively. I will have to reconsider that habit after this experience.

I had a business lunch here recently and it was a perfect spot for this occasion. The salads we had were great and the table was round and big enough to accommodate our group.

Not only did we have a terrific server, the piano player was quite lovely. The dining room never disappoints!

The sea bass was delicious and the presentation of all of it was exceptional. Cameron was very attentive, make excellent recommendations and his attention to detail is second to none. Well done across the board!

Excellent cuisine with good seafood options. Refined setting. Attentive and professional service. Just bring something warm to wear as they keep the dining room absolutely freezing. Otherwise five stars.

I went for afternoon tea with my niece. The place is very classy, and it was quiet when we went. The service was good. However, both the food and tea were disappointing, especially for the price. The savory selections were tasty overall, and I appreciated the gluten- free items, but the various desserts were too sweet, too buttery/oily(?), or just not that tasty. Neither my niece nor I finished them (my niece wondered if we could order only savory items if we came again). I ordered the Earl Greyer, and it tasted like Lipton to me. I would not recommend afternoon tea here.

We took a daughter to dinner to celebrate her retirement. The dinner and service was outstanding 💖

The best part of this restaurant for me was the wait staff. Everyone was beyond helpful and cheerful! The ambience was also very good. It was a great location to have a nice quiet lunch even though there was construction going on outside. Each of us had the turkey sandwich which was quite good flavor wise but made as a deli sandwich. There wasn't an even distribution of the items in the sandwich. The oyster starter I would've expected to be flash fried and it was deep-fried and overcooked. The coffee ice cream dessert was excellent, but the panna cotta had way too much gelatin in it. Overall, I would return.
