Best spot in the triangle for bagels & it’s not super close

Sophia Purut

I’ve been going to Isaac‘s Bagels for about a year, and I never leave hungry or unimpressed! Their classic bagel combos are delicious, but I especially love their more inventive sweet and savory bagels. Pictured is the Winter Tomato with Szechuan chili cream cheese on a salt and pepper bagel. It might seriously be the best bagel I’ve ever had!! But I also love their ricotta, cherry preserves, olive oil, and sea salt bagel. You can’t go wrong, so please support this amazing local business!

These are the most delicious bagels in the triangle. The souvganiot are to die for.
Hamentashen also 10/10. Honey cake on rosh hashana also amazing. Isaacs has been such a delightful addition to the triangle and as Jews we love being able to buy holiday treats that are endlessly nostalgic and far better than what we can make ourselves!! Ty Isaac and team 💕

Best lox I’ve ever had! Came for the first time today - parking wasn’t too bad for downtown Durham, service was fast, and the portion was hearty. Will definitely be coming back!

Ordered the Avocado smashed open face everything bagel sandwich, added lox. It was beautiful. The chili oil was a great touch. Wish the radish was pickled or it had a pickled onion on it. The bagel itself was super chewy. The poppy frangipane was delightful, better warmed up. The dill scallion cream cheese is AMAZING. The chai latte is one of the best I’ve ever had. Staff is friendly! The parking is pretty limited on street. Overall 7.5/10.

I love Isaacs so much. I am from NJ so I am picky about my bagels, but Isaacs makes me feel like I am back in NJ. I hope they expand at some point because the staff is amazing and it's such a great atmosphere inside!!

Best bagels I've had in NC since I moved here from NY. If you're in the area, this is definitely the spot to go to

It was just…okay. I’m a NY bagel connoisseur so I appreciate a good chew. However, the garlic on my everything bagel was burnt in places, which 1) makes the bagel texture dry and near impossible to chew and 2) added an incredibly bitter taste to half my bagel.

In addition, I just wanted white milk (not chocolate milk) to drink. The woman at the front register happily keyed in my request, but then the employee next to her measured out exactly 8 ounces of milk into a cup. It looked pathetic as it wasn’t even half full. Even more pathetic was that I was charged $2 for that. Had I known, I would’ve just driven home for a drink, as the amount they gave me was not nearly enough to cover the dry, burnt bagel.

Cream cheese was okay; nothing to write home about. Bagel selection is limited. Nowhere to sit, which I knew going in. The employees were all very friendly. It’s cheaper than Brandwein’s and tastes more like a NY bagel. However, the execution was pretty bad. And at $17 for two burnt bagels, I don’t think I’ll be back. Glad I didn’t waste my money by buying bagels to go in advance. I really wanted to like this place! It seems like they do a good business by how busy they were, but I don’t “get it” unless they had a REALLY off day.

Parking: Bagels are very good, love how crusty the outside is but found the $25/13 bagels a bit pricey.
