Atmosphere was great, nice location. Food was mid though. The wings were flavorful but other things we tried missed the points. Collards had too much stem for me.

AMAZING and affordable southern food.
One thing I will note - the restaurant is upstairs, and the elevator was broken down, making it currently not accessible to all (which is a damn shame as the food and service were excellent).

Cute restaurant. It was decorated for Halloween. The waffle balls were delightful. I recommend getting the shrimp and grits. It was delicious! Unfortunately, they only have street parking with meter.

I searched high and low for well portioned and delicious southern food and I found it here! I entered into a large room with plenty of seating but was on a date with myself and wanted a different kind of vibe and was brought to the patio. The lighting, ambiance and seating made for a fair weathered evening looking up at the stars. I needed some accommodations that were easily met, putting the cherry on top of a great night out. In that area were yard games such as corn hole and connect four as well as plenty of space to make a dance floor. The catfish meal was delectable and I will be returning for the bacon meatloaf! I truly enjoy good food and am not a fan of spending my hard earned money, but will gladly do it again here. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We had a private hire dinner for ~45 people and they knocked it out of the park! Amazing food, good vibes, and super friendly service. Special shoutout to Kenda & Renee for taking such good care of us :)

We older people had to break out our cellphone flashlights to be able to see the menu, but the service was very nice and the noise level not too bad. Everyone enjoyed the meals and I must particularly commend the fresh, lightly-cooked green beans with garlic—an excellent accompaniment to the cheese grits and the BLT salad.

We had the best experience at It's a Southern Thing! We sat on the patio and enjoyed delicious drinks and food! We got the crab dip for an appetizer which was delicious and the Mac and cheese and shrimp and grits for dinner - both of which were great. The service was wonderful - our waitress was kind and attentive and we also chatted with the manager who was lovely! We were there for dinner before a show at DPAC (John Mulaney who gave a shoutout to the restaurant during his set which was so fun) but will be back for brunch or dinner again in the future! Overall, a great experience!
Nice brunch experience! The food came in large portion sizes and tasted great! The only thing I would have to say is that our entrees weren't hot, they were about room temperature for us both. Enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and the service was fast and friendly! Altogether we were only there for about an hour, with starters and entrees being ordered.
Everyone there was amazing. Food was delicious.
