I had heard so much about this place. I had to check it out. She opened the doors at 3:15. I got there at 3:10 and there was already a line! The line went pretty quick though. But it was worth waiting. The food was soul delicious! Best soul food like your grandma make! She is truly gifted in the kitchen.

*****READ BEFORE YOU GO: To find this location type in the address do not just click start on the GPS, Google is sending people to a random residential location. Also the sign on the building hasn't been changed yet. Its on the corner of Angier ave and Driver st across from a bank and church*****
The owner is so welcoming and warm hearted you can tell everything is made with tradition and love. I ordered the stuffed salmon and it was tender, seasoned perfectly and flat out mouth watering. The portions are hefty which is perfect for comfort food like this!

1st time here. Ordered the stuffed chicken with mac n cheese and garlicky green beans. We also had the turkey wings and gravy withmac and green beans and we ordered a side of beans.
I would say about $25-30 per plate...$8 sode maybe ...i spent $70 total. So it was like going out to eat at long horn or something price wise.
Thing is though....i will pay if its good and it was great to me. I did have to add a pinch of tony's to my greenbeans but thats understandable considering our community. But the the food was delicious. The BBQ baked beans with beef woth hittin too.... I also had enough food for leftovers to take for work the next day....and it was still good! ....1 person in front of me when i went.....🤷🏿...but it was people walking out with plates as i walked in . Corner spot..parking can be tuff...its Angier ..but i mean...i was in and out
2nd time in ....food still amazing.....got it in about 5 mins... I got lamb chops and cajun corn on cobb and cabbage...we also got the pot roast over rice with mac and cheeae and cabbage.....😜🙌🏿😩❤️🔥😋

This is premier southern fare with plates big enough for two meals or for sharing. Look forward to being able to dine in at this historic spot in southeast Durham.

Drove over an hour, arrived an hour after they open, stood in line for 2 and a half hours, only to then be told they were completely sold out of the menu items. Unorganized, unprepared, waste of time. Not worth the drive or wait.

In town for the thanksgiving holiday! The line was out the door when I came, and you know I love to support the Black Owned Businesses!!! After orders were served to ones waiting, I place my order and it didnt take longer than 10 minutes. I ordered the Stuffed Chicken with dressing and rice w/ gravy. Delicious food and very hefty servings. They really are the home of the hefty plate😂! The service was amazing and the workers and owner, Monica, were very kind. Coming from someone all the way in Baltimore, this place is a 10!

First timer at venue. Nice atmosphere at new building, cashier very friendly and helpful in answering questions, cook staff was focused yet professional as well. Yes, the plate was heavy enough to serve up to 4 people if you’re going by servings. Ordered the steak burgers and gravy with (2-sides) collards and yams. The collards were the best item on the plate; the yams may have had too much nutmeg(?); and, the steak burgers with gravy over rice were too salty - only able to consume nearly half of one of the three patties. Would I return? Likely to support the black-owned business and provide a plate for someone and/or a family in need.

Heard about this place on TikTok and decided to check it out.We felt welcomed as soon as we walked in. It's the home of the 'heavy plate.' The portions are VERY generous. The food is DELICIOUS! I am glad we found this little spot. I plan to stop by again the next time I'm in Durham.
