This was a birthday dinner in our family. We enjoyed the food and experience very much! The grand kids had a great time. Highly recommend.

The service was excellent. They accommodated my son's birthday guests that had severe food allergies by allowing us to exclude those items from the cooking experience. All kids were able to enjoy food directly from the grill I stead of having it cooked in the back. I am so grateful.

We have been to this location a couple of times and it has always been a fun time, but we had the BEST birthday dinner for our 9 year old daughter last night. Mozart went out of his way to entertain and engage. Thank you! We will be back, and hope to have Mozart again.

We were celebrating my granddaughter's 8th birthday and it was a very good experience. The chef was definitely a performance artist, and our group of 3 generations certainly enjoyed him. The food was very good and the servings were generous. The birthday girl was serenaded and treated with some sherbet. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I didn't care for the constant birthday celebrations with the drums. However don't let that stop you I'm sensitive to loud noises. Portions were excellent I made dinner and lunch out of my visit. It is pretty expensive running north of $50 for just me.

“Fun for the kids” is the best i can say about this place. It is very nice inside, and the staff are friendly and kind. The food was mall quality though, huge quantities of everything… but it tasted like it was prepared by someone who had seen Japanese cooking on TV once but never actually tasted it.

It was my sons birthday celebration.. when I made the reservation I stated it was a birthday celebration and also told the front desk it was a celebration ... when we sat down the waitress got all our drink orders wrong we had to tell her 3 times the order then we ordered appetizers and they never came out ... the chef was entertaining but again the whole show and food was done before our appetizer showed up and when they finally did we got no explanation or apology just boxes for our food and the bill ... my kids love going to theater restaurant but I'm not ok paying for the mediocre service

Was quoted 20 minute wait to be seated, which was fine. Took almost 30 minutes to be greeted by our server, another almost 30 to get our drinks from the bar. Never asked if we wanted another drink, took over an hour to have our chef start cooking. In short, service was way too slow and innetentive, food took entirely too long to receive. If you go, sit at a table and skip the hibachi experience.

We didn't have entrainment with our cook. Everyone around us was laughing and bobbing with their cook, but we won't. We were there for about 2 hours. We saw our waitress probably twice if that much. Then wanted gratuity. It was my first experience there and i will not go back to that one.

The food and atmosphere are great here. The sushi in the Pic is called a spiral ecstasy or rainbow roll in my book. But authentic and amazing. The wonderful lady in the other Pic is no other than Jala, (Jay-la) the restaurant's best bartender. Come see her, she always makes you feel comfortable and at home and ready to strike up a conversation. This is my favorite place to be when I'm in Durham.

Today is Monday June 9th 2025. I don't recommend it all. Our reservation was for 630, they didn't have the table ready so we had to wait and had the nerves to tell us that since one out of 10 of our people wasn't here yet they couldn't seat us. First of all your table is not clean yet. So why do we get our food finally by 830 pm. They have the waiter who was serving us doing 3 different things. We didn't get refills or silver wear for over 35 minutes. It was our first and our last. There are better places to go in Durham. We had to take our food home since it took so long. Get some damn help and I usually don't like to complain. Just not cool with my family.

We have not been to Kanki in 4 years - went back tonight for sushi. Very disappointing. The service was definitly a problem but the biggest issue was the sushi. They have increased the price by at least 50% but at the same time are cutting the amount of fish and other ingredients in the susi and filling in rice. The rolls we ordered were mostly rice. This is sad as Kanki used to have good sushi. Paying over $100 for mostly rice is absurd and offensive to say the least.

Made a huge mistake by ordering delivery through the app and just watched first driver arrived and waited over 20 minutes and then left, second driver also waited like 15 minutes before leaving and finally third driver managed to get the order after 1 hour of estimated time.
Now I understand it’s busy Friday but if you don’t have time prepare these orders then don’t accept them right?
