I ordered the whole fish which was a small red snapper with potatoes, spinach and capers and my husband ordered the gumbo. The gumbo had an excellent flavor, but the portion size was small. It had shrimp and 3 crawfish and the sausage okra were finely diced. The red snapper and vegetables were delicious and it was very well done. The place was pretty busy and seemed popular. The service was excellent.
We really liked our server. The only fault we'd mention is that all of our apps came pretty much simultaneously. We were just having apps (plus a vegetable) and they would have been better staged rather than appearing simultaneously. Also we chose to order both the ceviche and the tuna crudo; while both were tasty, they were too similar and we should have gotten only one of them plus something different. But that is on us. (we were only two, and if we had been four, they would have been ok to order together, I think). The server asked if we did not want to order a vegetable or a salad, and we are grateful for the suggestion; the spinach (vegetable of the day) was excellent. Also last time (11/20) I had the gin drink and loved it; it was different this time (different bar tender or for some other reason), and I was not as enamored. The rose wine is quite good. Overall, the restaurant is small, but people keep their voices down. I will go again.
The food here is pretty outstanding, but make sure you know what size dish you're ordering. I ordered from the specials board and got 4 scallops wrapped in bacon in a chimichurri sauce on a tiny plate for $28. It was in desperate need of a base under it. Perhaps creamy grits or a couscous. So, remember to ask what size dish you're ordering from the specials board. All in all a pleasant night and fabulous service, but overpriced for the amount of food they're putting on your plate. Wine list is good enough and the desserts sell out pretty fast. We had a choice of only Key lime tart when we would have ordered a dessert each. My boyfriend had the salmon cooked to perfection, but again the dish needed a potato or something else on the plate. We enjoyed the food, but there are plenty of other places that are not so limited in the plating techniques.
Excellent food and service. Inviting ambience. Roasted whole fish was excellent as was honey butter corn side.
We're excited about this new Durham seafood restaurant. The ambiance is tasteful and serene, and the decor is beautiful -- from the mural on the wall to the little touches in the bathrooms, there is a lot of intention and thoughtfulness. The staff are very welcoming and eager to give you a great experience. The food is fresh and well-prepared -- the shrimp appetizer was especially delicious. They are still working through a few small things, and as diners we still have some post-pandemic sticker shock when we choose fine dining. But this is true everywhere, and we just have to adjust. Nerra is wonderful, and we will definitely be back.
Me and my husband went to NERRA for brunch on Sunday November 16 and was very disappointed as this was the first time we have eaten at this establishment. My husband ordered chicken and waffles and the waffle was too light in color and dry. The chicken breast was small. I ordered the shrimp and grits and didn't not eat it because it wasn't good. They comp my meal but didn't comp my husband. We left very disappointed and will not return as of today. Thanks.
Terrific new restaurant in Durham. The food was outstanding. The service - well you couldn't find nicer and more competent personnel. It's a real hit. Will definitely return!
The experience at Nerra Durham was fabulous. We had a Friday night reservation for 2. Upon arrival, we were promptly and warmly greeted by the hostess and soon thereafter, seated at our table. We had several staff members come to our table to welcome us and to provide assistance/recommendations. Our server was especially attentive to our questions about the menu and preparation of the food. Our appetizer came out quickly after ordering, which is impressive on a busy Friday night. Moreover, our dinner order came out shortly after the appetizer and was accurate and hot. Both entrees were presented very well and were superb. We will definitely return for the food. We were even more impressed by the service. As mentioned earlier in the review, there were several staff members who engaged us during the dining experience. We also had the pleasure of having Executive Chef, Chef Lex, coming to our table to greet us. She was very humble and warm. Overall, Nerra was one of our best dining experiences in the Triangle in some time! We will be back and bringing others with us.
Very nice place. The tuna and salmon dishes were perfectly prepared. Great value, very friendly staff.
First time at Nerra and we were not disappointed! We tried the Nerra Shrimp, Salmon Cake, Kale Caesar with Salmon, truffle fries and then had room for the Key Lime dessert. As an added bonus, Wednesday is half off bottles of Wine. Our server was a delight. And we got to say hello to Chef Lex. Can't wait to go back and try the larger plates.

This was a totally delightful dining experience. The staff is amiable and engaging and very responsive. The chef has a “simple” menu- meaning not so much as to overwhelm and yet a superb variation in size and options. The tastes were not simple - fresh, vibrant and full of color. She spoke with us several times during the meal as well as every table in the outdoor section. Portion size is perfect - drink and food included. For only being open 5 weeks, they have it down. I can see this becoming a weekly destination for drinks and/or dinner. Best wishes as they grow!
I was in a bit of a crabby mood as we were seated at our table last night. Nothing in particular. Just having one of those days, I guess. However ..... Upon making our selections and being served, I looked at my husband and said, “OMG, is this not absolutely delicious?” He agreed 100%. I had the tuna with a spicy *sauce on the side. (*One had a number of choices available.) My husband had a linguine with seafood and sausage. I also had a side of probably the most well prepared Brussels Sprouts I've ever tasted. Chef Lex stopped by our table for a brief chat. I was so pleased to have the opportunity to tell her how much we enjoyed our meals. In addition, a complimentary dessert was included. I opted for the key lime pie dessert. Lord have mercy. Just that good! The service was great. Everyone was so welcoming on all fronts. I hope Nerra continues to flourish with the greatest success!
Nerra! What a wonderful restaurant experience. Nerra is the definition of chill, comfortable vibe meets creative, thoughtful and well executed menu and delivers delicious food that leaves you wanting more. Walking in, the interior is softly and beautifully decorated. It's well lit but not too bright. This is a restaurant design that looks and feels as though it was created by professional designers. The staff makes you feel like you're welcomed home which actually made my shoulders relax and sliding into our booth with a glass of suggested wine was just sublime. We had Honey Sesame Wings which had just the right balance of salty/sweet and were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the Baker's Flight bread sampler...well, that was a very smart menu choice. Hush puppies, biscuits, an assortment of warm breads with spreads...oh my! It was great not having to choose one or the other and they were each just perfect. These are biscuits my Grandma would be proud of. We dined on Salmon with Chimichurri sauce, Seafood Linguine and finished our meal with the best cheesecakes I have EVER had. All I can say is if you haven't been to Nerra yet....get there and you will enjoy every single minute and every bite. You'll thank me later....
Absolutely to die for!! From the vibe on the outside to the amazing atmosphere inside. Definitely a great stop for locals and tourists. Today I tried the Cajun seafood pasta and the parasol. The delicate flavors definitely compliment each over very well. My friend had the pork sisig and loved that as well. 10/10 I do recommend!!

Miesha with Offline - This was our first time dining at Krill and we will be back. Olivia greeted us and also served us. She was very welcoming and considerate. Extra points for being so accommodating when we asked about my food allergies. That is always extra special to me. We started with the lumpia 10/10! Perfect crunch to start the meal. For our meals, I have the Pork belly. It was full of flavor and my hubby had the salmon special with the Brussels and sweet potatoe fries. The fish was cooked to perfection and I highly recommend the Brussels a little char and sweet and salty of the bacon jam… Yum Yum!!! We also got the Peach Cobbler Bread Pudding. Let’s just say it’s all gone. It was a great. Long story short- Go Go Go and Try our Krill and Ask for Olivia!!!
