I ordered the whole fish which was a small red snapper with potatoes, spinach and capers and my husband ordered the gumbo. The gumbo had an excellent flavor, but the portion size was small. It had shrimp and 3 crawfish and the sausage okra were finely diced. The red snapper and vegetables were delicious and it was very well done. The place was pretty busy and seemed popular. The service was excellent.
We really liked our server. The only fault we'd mention is that all of our apps came pretty much simultaneously. We were just having apps (plus a vegetable) and they would have been better staged rather than appearing simultaneously. Also we chose to order both the ceviche and the tuna crudo; while both were tasty, they were too similar and we should have gotten only one of them plus something different. But that is on us. We're excited about this new Durham seafood restaurant. The ambiance is tasteful and serene, and the decor is beautiful -- from the mural on the wall to the little touches in the bathrooms, there is a lot of intention and thoughtfulness. The staff are very welcoming and eager to give you a great experience. The food is fresh and well-prepared -- the shrimp appetizer was especially delicious.
