The parking lot, sign, and location do not do this place justice. This was a super cute restaurant with thoughtful decor. The server was very kind. The lunch was affordable and delicious (shrimp empanada and minimofongo), and the bathrooms were clean.

Keep this lovely place open and pay them a visit!

Great decor and authentic music. The fried chicken is as good as I remember from a special place during childhood. Rice and beans good, plantains perfectly done. I would eat there often but we were just passing through.

This is my first and last time purchasing food from this business. They sold us old and spoiled plantains, the shrimp empanadas was dry and flavorless, the black beans was lacking flavor as well and the salad is basically a slaw not what’s is on the picture on the menu. 2 stars for the white rice and garlic shrimp. They need to do better

Very nice place with great drinks and food. You can eat tacos and empanadas for cheap. You can also get whole meals cooked in metal crocks with lids. I want to try them ALL! Service was great and very informative. Wish you all the best.

Went for dinner on 7/11/2025
Never been here before and I thought it was just your typical Mexican restaurant having done ZERO research. It’s a Dominican restaurant. Full bar and excellent cocktails. The staff’s English isn’t the best but your certainly can make it through easily with a little work. It’s worth it though because th food was delicious. So were the drinks. The staff was very kind. Well done, La Casita. I’ll be back for sure.

My husband and I was looking for a place to have dinner we always do Friday date night. We accidentally came up on this place on yelp we went by the ratings we decided to go check it out OMG, service A plus, my husband had skirt steak with green fry plantains he cleaned his plate. I had chicharrón de pollo, yellow rice, red beans and fry sweet plantains, it was well seasoned taste fantastic the absolute best. If your looking for authentic Dominican food look no further. Located off Guess Road in Durham. Place clean, food came out very hot they way we like it atmosphere fantastic. I also had a piña colada it was fantastic. Check them out guarantee you will not regret it.

Where should i begin???? Authentic!!!! Great Customer Care.
Best kept secret in Durham.
This is my second time going in less than 3 weeks and im going again, taking my daughter.

This time around I had beef and shrimp Empanadas, rolo black beans and rice, and the shredded red cabbage with white vinigar; pairs so well together; who knew?

So yummy together I always want to buy extra, because each time ive had leftovers, it taste even better the next day, both times.

My significant other always gets the salmon, with yellow rice and ask for Avacado on top, (does cost extra) however it is worth it for a peice of additional comfort and happiness, we also tried the sweet pina drink and the mango over ice.
Cant wait to return again soon.

Avoid this place! I don’t review often but our experience here was one of the worst. We just spent an over priced amount on takeout to end up throwing it out. We had been before in person and thought we had just ordered the wrong things. Then tonight we got takeout and got what the staff recommended. As someone who has enjoyed Dominican food before at other restaurants this was the most bland and upsetting meal I have had in a long time. The chicken was actually awful. All bones and over cooked and caked in batter. What a scam . You should be ashamed of what is served at this restaurant.

My first time trying mofongo and it was so delicious!! Also tried the beef empanadas, 10/10! The service was fast and friendly. Our waitress didn't speak the best English but she was patient as we ordered our food. I will definitely be back again when im craving some good Dominican food!!

The food was awful. The chicken was dry and hard/over cooked. No kids menu. They did not give us dressing for our salad and the mojo for the mofongo was cold. When we asked our waitress to heat it up she mumbled under her breath. Spent $150 on a horrible meal. Server clearly did not care to be at work, she was awful! The music was loud.
