Little Barb bakery is one of the best small businesses to ever come to Durham! Barb and her team are filled with kind, talented, helpful, and creative. Individuals who are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure your treat is perfect. I have Barb and her team do my birthday cake every year and not only is it delicious and an absolute crowd pleaser, but they go above and beyond to execute my vision for whatever crazy and elaborate theme I have that year. I also love popping by to see what goodies they have in the case especially on Sundays. The Biscoff cinnamon roll has got to be the number one way to my heart! But really you can’t go wrong with trying whatever new fun creation they have made that week. also, if you pop by their storefront, they have a pay forward board, which just adds even more to the level of community they bring to this little neck of the woods. barb and her team also host cake decorating classes. I have been to a few of these and have even worked with her to host a private one and wow what an incredible afternoon!! Definitely not too stressful, but you still walk away having learned a thing or two! It was such a great way to gather with all of my girlfriends and do something hands-on with a delicious take home afterwards! all in all, I really cannot recommend little Barb’s bakery enough, truly a gem, and I couldn’t imagine working with any other bakery, moving forward. Barb and her team not only create delicious and wonderful treats, inclusive too, plenty of gluten-free options. But they also have incredible customer service, attitudes and energy. Never once have I had a run in with anybody working there that was anything less than incredible. Do yourself a favor and swing by Barbs and get yourself a treat ASAP.

I was CRAVING a chocolate chip cookie and decided to stop by after work on an impulse. It was absolutely amazing. If you like ooey, gooey cookies you’ll love it. A bit pricey but no regrets for a special “treat yourself” moment.

I got a cookie dough cake slice and there was way too much sugar. Literally, I was crunching on the sugar that was put in the cookie dough mix and I couldn’t finish it. The cake pop was good, but I did get chocolate when I asked for vanilla. I also got the chocolate tres leches and it really tasted more like a moist chocolate cake than traditional tres leches. Overall, it was fine but not great enough for me to become a regular.

While I enjoy the taste of the cakes, I have on more than one occasion found hair in my food :( I bought a carrot cake slice and lemon raspberry slice from the Durham Co-op market, both of which had strands of hair in them. I got a slice of cookie dough cake from the location in the Durham food hall today and it had two strands of hair in the cake. I really think someone needs to start wearing hair nets because it’s super off putting and kinda gross, and takes away from the overall experience of the cake.

Little Barb’s Bakery: Overpriced Garbage and a Delusional Owner If you're thinking about ordering from Little Barb’s Bakery, do yourself a favor and don’t. I paid $95 for what was supposed to be a Strawberry Crunch Cake for a special occasion — what I got was a collapsed, soggy, gluey abomination that looked like it had been left out in the rain. The cake was so bad kids wouldn’t eat it. Imagine a room full of 18 people — and not one person had anything positive to say. It wasn’t just bad; it was inedible. A complete failure. I reached out to the owner thinking, at minimum, she'd want to know what went wrong. Instead, she gave me some nonsense about us not understanding the kind of “sponge” she bakes, as if we were too uncultured to appreciate raw batter disguised as a cake. No apology. No refund. Just condescension and denial. Let me be clear: this is not a serious business. She charges boutique prices for amateur-hour results and hides behind arrogance when called out. No quality control. No pride in the product. Just excuses and a refusal to take responsibility. Little Barb’s Bakery is a scam in frosting. Save your money, your event, and your dignity — and go literally anywhere else.

I have had the privilege of meeting Barb. When she started this journey, I was beyond proud and admired her. It seems to me that her love is written into every single recipe. I would 1 million percent try anything on her grocery list at this point.

I tried one of the cakes (strawberry nutella) and it didn't taste like strawberry, nor Nutella. It just tasted like sugar. It was also dry

I live in the apts above and go hear often. It’s a decent bakery but lacks a bit of creativity and flavor profile.

Fresh bakery inside Durham food mall. Pricey but good quality. Glutten free available!

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, would highly recommend wheel chairs tables, entrance and ramp to upstairs bakery!

Started to try this place but ultimately decided not to after seeing the lady at the counter HACKING and coughing, rubbing her eyes, barely covering her mouth and wearing no mask over the bakery items. If you are sick you need to go home! That was absolutely a turn off from trying the items at all.

This bakery is beyond mid. I tried the poptarts, dry and stale. I also tried a slice of their cake (not tasty and dry cake). I later noticed the employee coughing while over the products. Will not be coming back. Sad.

Stopped by to pick up Too Good to Go at a neighboring business and my son asked to get a couple of treats from this bakery. Creme Brule cheesecake bar was good, peanut butter tartlet was out of this world. But CHECK HOURS before you go. Returned this morning just before 10 to pick up treats for a celebration, on my son's request, and found out they don't keep regular bakery hours - they aren't open mornings at ALL. So all I got was a walk to and from the parking garage. As long as you don't need to stop early they are very worth trying.

We ordered a custom cake from Little Barb's Bakery and it was exactly what we wanted! We were so impressed with the amazing customer service and the spectacular cake. We sent a reference picture of what we wanted the cake to look like and got exactly that! We couldn't have asked for anything better. I highly recommend Little Barb's Bakery.
