Nice place, decent food but Way too expensive though! We ordered catfish ($22) and angry bird chicken Mac n cheese ($18) which would have come with two teeny Chicken legs. We ordered two more legs and they charged us for another entree ($36). The catfish was excellent. Nice big piece! But Mac n cheese was dry and little cheese flavor. The black eyed peas were different; pickle-y. Corn bread was ok but no butter served with it. They charged us a
Cost of living charge (20%) and I had tipped 20%. I didn’t know about the CoL charge so our server got a good tip. We didn’t order drinks either. The bill was $90 for 2. Buyers beware for sticker shock.

The presentation of my burger plate was sub par. Consistency of a meat loaf.

Treated a friend to birthday lunch. He had the meatloaf and I had the cowboy steak.
We both enjoyed immensely. Service and food were excellent. I live an hour and a half away but I will definitely return.

Very embarrassing, you make a mistake of 12 usd more + 20% mandatory new tip, and don’t respect customers appropriately. I have came here many times, don’t know what happened recently, please don’t order fried chicken and meatloaf

Great southern vibe. I love the antique feel of the dining area and how well the lighting is inside. The food was pretty good and the staff were very kind.

What an absolutely perfect way to spend the Sunday brunch hour. Great food recommendations, exciting specials, and shrimp and grits that have unseated Plum as the best in Durham. Our server was friendly and on top of refills and needs, and the only bad thing about the jazz is it didn't last all day.
A Durham gem. Get yourself there and if you go, call me. There are MANY things on the menu I'd like to try.

Ordered picked up on a whim, unknowingly close to closing hours. One of the most flavorful and crispiest chicken sandwiches I’ve ever eaten, not to mention it was huge. Their Nashville style sauce reminded me of a mix of both Nashville hot and honey hot. I got a side of garlic mashed potatoes, which were also great. 10/10

Excellent Southern Cuisine. I had Duck Gumbo and my wife had the Shrimp and Grits - the Grits are really spectacular. The rooftop is really pleasant.

Warning signs were there from the start. The first thing I noticed walking into Lula and Sadies was a sanitation rating of 90—but it was tucked behind a plant on a bookshelf, almost as if they were trying to hide it. Another red flag should have been the fact that the place was completely empty during what should have been a busy time.

We ordered the fried dirty rice, which turned out to be cold fried red beans and rice. The so-called baked spaghetti was nothing more than plain noodles with sauce on top that had been flash-baked. The barbecue ribs were tough, drowned in a sauce that was overly thick, extremely sweet, and had a strange hint of licorice that made them nearly inedible.

The waitress barely came by our table; I never even got a chance to ask for unsweet tea to dilute my overly concentrated sweet tea. I eventually had to flag down someone else just to get hot sauce.

The food itself was terrible. The chicken was completely unseasoned, the spaghetti was a joke, and the ribs were both tough and ruined by the sauce. Overall, it was one of the worst meals my wife and I have had in a long time. To make matters worse, we spent $70 on this disaster.

When we complained about the food, we never heard from the management—no apology, no accountability. As we were leaving, the waitress instead became defensive, clearly noticing that we didn’t enjoy our food, which only made the experience worse.

Alissa with Offline - I found Lula and Sadie’s through Offline and now it is our favorite place to take visitors when they are in town! The chicken and red velvet waffles are out of this world!!!!

This is a missable stop. The food was not good and the service was worse. We were the first to arrive. We waited for a hostess or server. No way to let them know we were there. We watched this happen to other people too. The server let us know there's a 20% living wage fee added on to our bill. We are welcome to tip over that. Didn't happen. She was doing too much and it wasn't service. They needed more staff. She was cleaning, setting silverware, running food, taking orders and seating tables. Too much for one person. And she was the only one. The owners are doing a disservice. If you are adding on a fee make it worth my money. Or just raise the prices don't service fee me out the door. The place looked clean, but the health grade was a 90 that day. I don't know what was wrong.
