The barista that served me seemed annoyed, very slow to speak. The lemon square was different than I remembered, tough. My fork actually broke off in the pastry.
As we approached leaving and closing time the barista unlocked the door smiled and said “have a good day” to the women in front of me, and the guy behind me.
I deliberately said “have a good day to you too!”, as we awkwardly locked eyes. Lol she still said nothing. I just had to make sure the vibes I thought I recieved were what I thought…they were.
Yeah, never again.

The matcha is extremely sweet, it’s disgusting. How come it comes with sugar? Not real matcha. Also, the service is bad, no one cares and they just do it without being polite or attentive.
You need to accept cash some people granite is 2025 Still use it just saying!
“I was completely impressed with their professionalism and customer service.” It was my First time visiting this place and I don't know nothing about the coffee I asked for the recommendation and the guys with full inked TATTOO in his both hand I forgot his name..He has good coffee experience and I try his Latte and I love it .I wish i had a coffee experience like him and he make the best drink in town ..I'll give this place 5/5..must visit this place if you are in town..highly recommend 😊
Supper good food and service
Staff is pleasant, coffee is delicious and the environment is vibrant. One of my favorite cafes in Durham.
Amazing atmosphere & staff was very nice! Really loved the Vietnamese iced coffee and thai chicken wrap. Pastries were also really tasty! Would highly recommend the cupcakes/cakes for parties - they were a hit!
They have a small parking lot, you might have to park at the next business and walk here. I ordered the small Vietnamese coffee and it’s not strong and not worth it, just go to a real Vietnamese restaurant to order one it will be so much better. They have many pastry options here, and lots of chairs inside and outside.
The man taking the orders and working the register today needs to brush up on his customer service skills. Also, arrived right when they opened, and they were already out of a majority of their pastries due to a large catering order they had. One would think that they would have prepared the catering order separately from their daily selection. They also don’t accept cash as payment which I find strange. This was my first (and last time) for Mad Hatter’s.

Probably 4.5 stars out of 5 but I will round up because of the brilliant goat cheese croquettes. Went for lunch, hadn’t been there in about ten years. Had the Quiche Lorraine with arugula. The greens were nice and fresh the quiche had a nice taste, large chunks of ham and the right ratio of crust to quiche. Not perfect, though, because the middle was cold (surprisingly happens frequently with quiche). Offsetting the chilli center were excellent goat cheese croquettes, fantastic taste and something I haven’t had anywhere else. A good place for lunch.
