Generally very good. I recommend the tortas and house burrito are excellent— very flavorful with super crunchy fries. The steak and carnitas tacos had dry meat.
Tacos were good but I payed over $4 for a dry hard tamale. I ordered a red one and got a green one. I would not have minded if it was good. However, it was hard and dry. If your not willing to eat it, don’t sell it to your customers

Small hole in the wall restaurant. I ordered the Chorizo Torta to go. Cashier was a gentleman who was very friendly and quick. Came with fries, which were crispy, well breaded, and delicious, great portion, couldn’t finish them all. The honey mustard type sauce that came with them was also very good. The Torta itself was phenomenal. Sizable portion and stand out flavor.

Listen, at this point Durham has a WIDE array of options if you want some Mexican food. It ranges from quick N' dirty indulgent selects, all the way up to wholesome and home made.
Even on 9th st, you have another Durham institution (who we will remain nameless out of respect) for burritos and tacos that still carries a great reputation.
Mi Cavillo is is my new favorite spot. It's more affordable than it's competition, quick for what I need, and always feels like some comfort food. Again, you have your pick of the litter in Durham, but if you're on 9th and need to save time and a buck, or if you've had a couple at one of the bars nearby, just order online and pick up. I recommend the al pastor burrito, or the steak quesadilla.
No frills, fried up, and yummy. It's also, in my humble opinion, a significantly better value than it's established competitor up the street. Why pay $20+ for a massive burrito when you can pay $13.

Simple seating, no bar, small restaurant but this place is definitely worth grabbing a to-go order. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed the fajitas and will be back to try more.

Great spot for authentic Mexican food!
The staff is super friendly and always pays attention to what you order. Food comes out really fast, and there's always a place to sit. Everything we’ve tried—tacos, tortas, enchiladas, and birria—has been delicious, full of real Mexican flavor. Best part? They welcome you with free fried wheat wheels (chicharrones de ruedita)! Definitely a place worth visiting.

The food is runny. The beans can be drank in a glass. The salsas are like water. I don't really see why they have to water down the refried beans. That's pretty cheap. And the portions are tiny. No thank you
soggy empanadas
Delicious Steak and Carnita Fajitas. So flavorful! Free pinwheels for a snack.
Food is awesome!
This place is hands down the best hole-in-the-wall.
