Pretty good food. I got the muffaletta. It was pretty good, however, having lived on the Louisiana Gulf Coast, I have had better. While tasty, it was just less, in size and taste compared to others I have had. My wife got a paste dish. I can't remember exactly but I do know she thought it was disappointing - not the right mix of cheese and the sauce was underwhelming. It is probably closer to 3.5 than 4 stars, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Visited Mother's upon recommendation and I was not disappointed! First time enjoying a real ragu. Delicious! Akeem is a fantastic server and bartender.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. They always deliver the best food that is consistent. The Ragu is so good I have to buy some to fly across the country with me. Yes, I live on the west coast and make sure I go here to get my fix every time I am in the area. The special yesterday with the carrot infused pasta and kale was absolutely amazing. Such an innovative dish that was delicious. I highly recommend it if it is every a special when you visit. Amanda is such a kind and thoughtful member of your team. She took care of our every need, recommended drinks, and made everything hit the spot on a warm summer evening.
Excellent Italian sandwiches for lunch. The cappuccino was way better than at those big coffee chains.
Up market italian place with speciality dishes. Very warm staff.
Zoey was our server and man was she awesome! Took the time to describe each dish in detail! My son and I chose this place because of the name and left wanting to return for more! Everything was prefecto! See you again soon!
I’ve lived in the Triangle since September 2018, and I’ve probably sent more people to this spot than I can count. The service has always been amazing (still is), and for a long time, the food matched it—consistently great, even kind of special. I went back a few days ago and, while the vibe and service were just as good as ever, the food… kind of missed the mark.
I ordered the bruschetta with burrata to start, and it honestly looked like someone just dropped a ball of burrata on a plate, tossed on some whole cherry tomatoes alongside very meh grilled bread and called it a day. I’m Italian, so I love those simple flavors—but this felt lazy. Bruschetta shouldn’t be something that makes you think, “I could’ve just made this at home with far better results and saved myself some money.”
Historically, the tagliatelle has been my gold standard here. This time, I opted to try the cavatelli. While the seasoning was there, the overall dish was a miss. And spending $120 for food that was underwhelming made it feel like a real misstep—especially from a place I used to rave about.
And I really hate to even bring this up, as someone who’s worked in hospitality and knows how tough the job is—but the food runner had extremely strong body odor. It was hard to ignore, and we found ourselves holding our breath when they approached the table. It made the entire dining experience feel even more uncomfortable.
It makes me sad to say it, but I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.
We had a lovely dinner at Mothers & Sons. Food was so fresh, everything from the olive oil to the main course was full of flavor and delicious!
Our server was fantastic, get the octopus app. Stick with the pastas and the spit roasted pork. They make a very nice Negroni using some liquors that add depth to the traditional. Highly recommend
Great experience! Friendly service and good food. I ordered the mushroom ravioli special. I ate it all and even wanted to lick the plate. But I didn't. The atmosphere is too nice and classy for that kind of behavior.

Our second time at Mothers and Sons and again it did not disappoint! Great food and wine. Nice way to have dinner before a concert at DPAC.
Servers and staff were lovely; thanks for the candle in dessert for my friebds bday! Food was terrible! Grilled octopus was literally the worst I've ever had; chewy and hard to eat! Squid ink pasta was average at best and the fish dish in a broth was just ok/fine. All that for such high prices! Maybe it was a “bad day” in the kitchen but I'm never going back nor ever recommending this place!
Food was great, but our server was very aloof and didn't seem to want to serve us. Not sure if it is because we looked young (and young people often don't tip well) but we didn't appreciate the poor service when other tables around us were getting checked on and seemed to be treated well.
Service was top-notch and the food was delicious. Love how this restaurant serves complimentary bread with olive oil which so many restaurants charge for these days. And they also have real votive candles on the tables, not the battery-operated ones. All these small touches add to the whole dining experience in such a wonderful way. On this visit we had the Fritto Misto, Cavatelli Pugliesi and the Squid Ink Tonnarelli. Each was excellent with lots of flavor and plenty of protein. We love this restaurant, and they never disappoint.
Very cute bar and lighting
