Employees are very rude. I learned a good deal of Tamil and Hindi a few years back, when I was helping my neighbor start his food truck serving food from his native Southern India. I’ve tried this place 3 times, and each time the 2 young guys are constantly berating and talking so dirty about the customers the entire time. Won’t try again.

Ordered take out last night. Part of my order was missing. I called today to see if I could come pick up the rest of my order. The person who answered said no and hung up on me. I've been a customer since this restaurant opened and they do have great food, but this isn't the first time I have had trouble with service.

Low quality food, poor service, spartan truck stop atmosphere — not very appealing. Don’t waste your time or your money. Prices are high for such a dive. Bathroom was clean, that’s one positive.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Unhygienic Practices
We dined at NaanStop tonight as a group of four, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory.
To begin with, the service was unprofessional. When I started ordering appetizers, the waiter abruptly asked, “Is that all you want?” I explained that I needed more time to order the main course, yet he raised his eyebrows and walked away. Shortly after, the owner approached our table and simply said, “Tell me what you want.” This lack of courtesy and attentiveness was disappointing.
Moreover, we waited for 10 minutes just to get water, but there was no staff available. While I understand that they may have been short-staffed, I noticed that the only waiter was busy cleaning the bathroom and mopping the dining area—right next to where we were eating. What was most concerning was that he was wringing the mop with his bare hands, without gloves, into the water bucket. This was extremely unhygienic and off-putting, making us uncomfortable with the idea of him serving our food afterward.
Additionally, while we were still eating, the waiter started mopping the floor beside us, despite the restaurant being open for another hour. The overwhelming smell of cleaning chemicals (Fabuloso) made it difficult to enjoy our meal.
As for the food, the tomato soup we ordered was excessively sour and overly spiced. After taking just one spoonful, we returned it and informed the owner. However, instead of addressing our concern or offering a resolution, he simply acknowledged it and still charged us for it.
The most unacceptable part of our experience was the billing. A 20% gratuity was automatically added to our check without informing us, even though we were only a group of four. While we fully understand and expect to pay sales tax, the undisclosed gratuity charge felt unfair and deceptive.
Overall, this restaurant needs significant improvements in hygiene, customer service, and transparency in billing. Until these issues are addressed, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I have been a regular customer and always paid for my meals with food points from Duke University, as I’m a student. Last month, when I ordered a 70 dollar meal using food-points, I was charged 280 dollars. When I went to talk to them and asked for a refund, they said they couldn’t do it, it would be a hard process, and that I could just get meals “for free” with them three more times. I accepted because I wanted to be helpful, but that proved to be one of my worst mistakes. After giving the first two meals, they didn’t want to give the third one, saying, without proof, that I would have to pay for that one (even though they still owed me 70 dollars). In the end, they said I would just have to pay 11 dollars, and once more I was a fool and trusted them. In the end, they overcharged me money, and gave me a lot of headache for a problem that they started in the first place. It was their mistake and they somehow made it look like my fault, completely disrespectful, out of touch of reality, an attitude that shows they love their money more than their clients. I will not come back and would just advise anyone to be careful when going to this place, check all receipts and make sure they’re not overcharging you.

Great atmosphere and excellent service! I had the coconut soup and garlic Naan that was very delicious ?. The shrimp biryani was tasty with spices, and I had a mango non-alcoholic drink that made me want another one.

I come to this restaurant and order take out all the time. Ive probably ate here over 50 times. The food is AMAZING. However, last time I ordered take out I came to pick it up and asked if it was okay if I get a table and eat there instead. The guy at the front just said “No”. I explained I just ordered $50 worth of food from the restaurant, and even a seat at the bar would do fine as I decided id rather just eat right away. His response was, I’ll get you a paper plate but no you have to leave. I found it disrespectful to not accommodate a paying customer and will order takeout from somewhere else now.

Great!
the staff are very rude, food made me ill. the waiter came up to me and said "get your feet off of the bench" in a terse tone? I'm wearing shoes and sitting crosslegged, reading. Never been talked to that way by any stranger, let alone a waiter.
also the food made me quite sick in a way Sitar or Saffron never have. avoid at all costs.

Both my boyfriend and I think this is the tastiest damn Indian food around; hell, maybe even the tastiest of everything! He said it was like having an O in the mouth, lol. Seasoned so well! Staff is very friendly. You get a lot of food in their lunch box to go.
