Neomonde Mediterranean Durham

Very disappointed. Service was terrible. Went with another couple and even though we ordered together, their food came out 15 minutes after ours. Despite it being 630 on a Saturday and not crowded, ALL of the tables were dirty. We ended up just wiping with napkins and hoping for the best. When our food came out it didn’t have pita. We asked our food runner and she said she’d bring some. After 10 minutes she hadn’t so I went back to the counter to ask about it and stood there 2 minutes before even being acknowledged by the staff who then acted like it was a crazy imposition to ask for what was supposed to be included in our meal. Food was good enough ultimately but for nearly $100 for 4 people, this was not remotely worth the money. We will not return and will take our business elsewhere.

The food is actually decent, if you're able to get your order and they get it right. I've been going to Neomonde for 7+ years and used to really love it, but the past 3 visits (over the past 3 months) have been progressively worse. Orders were forgotten, and then messed up after reminding the staff that food was still being waited for. Worst yet, though, is the indifference of the workforce. I understand that this may not be someone's dream job and it may just be something people do for a paycheck, but neither is an acceptable excuse for not caring and mistreating customers. We try to support downtown Durham businesses, especially post-pandemic, but the issues at Neomonde are only getting worse and it really is not worth the effort or cost. Sad to see a once-great establishment slowly fade away!

It wasn't really my cup of tea but I'm sure other people would enjoy the food. I got the steak pita pocket, and while the meat was good, I didn't really enjoy the taste of the other things in the pocket. The other food they had looked good, though.

Favorite counter service spot :) I go out of my way to stop at a NeoMonde whenever I’m in Durham. I recommend the falafel, mjadarah, & cabbage delight

The portion size for the kabob platter with 2 sides is underwhelming. For $13 this portion size feels overpriced. I put a banana in the photo for comparison

My favorite hummus in the area.

We went walking a few blocks close to our hotel and decided to try this Mediterranean restaurant. They did not disappoint. For late evening time, they had a steady flow of customers with take out orders. Also, people sitting inside and at the outside patio eating area. They offer a wide selection of wraps, gyros, salads, and dinner items. Great prices, and you get your money's worth. Their desserts are irresistible! The young lady who assisted us was a breath of fresh air. She was pleasant, very helpful, and checked on us several times. The gentleman that prepared our food (chicken shawarma pita and lamb/chicken shawarma pita) was attentive to detail and great answering our questions while multitasking. They offer fountain drinks as well as a variety of other beverages! This was our first time here, and we will definitely return whenever we are in the area!!
