The rice seems its made in microwave, beans were not cooked all the way. Thought it was odd for a Saturday night to only have 1 customer, I see why now. Will not return

I visited this restaurant today, and it was completely empty. The owner (or staff member) looked at me and asked, with a dismissive tone, “What do you want?” I smiled and said, “A table for one.”

Before sitting down, I politely mentioned that I brought my own tortillas for health reasons and asked if that would be okay. He immediately replied, “No, this is a restaurant, we can’t do that,” then turned his back and walked away to sit at the empty bar.

While I understand that not all restaurants allow outside food, the response could’ve been more respectful — a simple, kind explanation or offering a takeout option would’ve been the decent thing to do. Instead, I was ignored while he returned to watching TV.

It’s honestly baffling why someone would choose to be in the hospitality industry without showing even basic hospitality.

They never open. Here I've came 3 times already and they never open.

Fantastic food! Large portions, flavorful, fresh. We sat outside and listened to the authentic music. Couldn't have been a lovelier evening.

Unsure if we just caught them on a bad night or if it was due to the order being a pick up (I ordered and picked up myself ) but the order was very underwhelming. We ordered 2 entrees and 1 appetizer all were simply beneath average cheese pupusas were EXTREMELY OILY held no form and were more of a blob of melty cheese then a pupusa. Chicken fajita's lacked flavor and portion of protein seemed as though it was the last they had didn’t taste fresh but temperature of food was still hot as though it was fresh. Last was the ACP same complaints as the fajitas highly doubt I would waste the $60.00 again.

Wonderful experience! Really nice people and astonishingly good food. I wish there were more traditional Guatemalan options on the menu, but there's a good mix of food available. We had the chiles rellenos and empanadas chapines, and both were fantastic. Drinks were great - the spicy margarita was very fresh. I hope to see more folks visting El Quetzal. We'll definitely be back!
