We went after checking out the good reviews. It was absolutely disappointing.

I don't mind a little tang or lemon with my food but to have everything so salty AND sour was very off putting. The catfish tasted like mustard and vinegar without any of the actual fish flavor, while the slaw had very little tang at all, but that could be because everything else we ate was already so tangy. The shrimp and scallops were so salty we didn't even finish them.

The best things we had there were the brussel sprouts and hush honeys. The lemon pie wasn't the worst but it was just ok. In my opinion the food was not worth the hype or the money, especially in this economy. Service was great and the cashier was wonderful, the food just wasn't it.

The seafood is fresh and absolutely delicious! I had the grouper bites that were actually more like small fillets. It was the best grouper I've had in 40 years!!! The place is a bit expensive, extremely casual, and the food is served in to-go style containers. Everyone is super friendly and this place is clean. I will definitely go back for the grouper!

I'm kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. The grouper roll was incredible, really well fried and seasoned. I'm absolutely coming back!

Absolutely fantastic seafood joint that never disappoints. I’ve never been disappointed here. Every item is delicious. The food is always fresh, local, and well seasoned. The owner and staff and kind, passionate, and genuine. The location and decor itself really reflect NC seafood in a fun and unique way. Every item I’ve tried on the menu is delicious, and it makes the decision on what to order a tough one every time!

Great fried seafood, and crab cakes, I see why it's a James Beard winner. Casual place, and normal seafood prices.

I really don't like seafood. It's not my thing, but I appreciate well-prepared food no matter what it is. I got grouper bites, lemonade (wow-oh-wow it was good! Not tart, not too sweet) and a bunch of dipping sauces. They were all excellent. The star of the show was the hush-honeys, though. I wish I'd gotten TWO orders!

Have already heard about this place. Decided to go because of the collaboration feature items of the Gumbo Bun with Lutra Bakery. Ordered the Gumbo Bun, Dirty Rice and a Trout Plate (comes with sides of Tangly Slaw and Crispy Potatoes). For the bun, the bread melts with the saucy, rich gumbo and the mashed mustard potato salad in between - it had a generous amount of chicken, pork, shrimp and fried oysters. It is a bit salty for my taste; but for their dirty rice, it’s perfectly and enough salted for me! I love their dirty rice (with gizzards and minced meat). The trout was fresh and the seasoning didn’t cover the original fish taste. Love the crispy potatoes too!!! Would definitely come back again :)
