During our visit today, there was a Sprouts employee attempting to put up a tent and cussing while doing so. Our family (including two young children) were seated at the nearest table and within earshot. The employee made no effort to apologize nor recognize that her words were distasteful.
The food at the cafe is as expected but the portions are small. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

We eat here everytime and have never had an issue. Good food and service.

We waited 30–35 minutes for a single adult meal (5 chicken tenders and fries) while managing two hungry kids. That kind of wait is completely unacceptable for such a simple order.
All I received was a casual “sorry” — no offer of compensation, no genuine apology, no explanation.
Even on a busy weekend, a restaurant should be better staffed and prepared. This is a business — people are paying money and deserve timely service and basic respect.
Very disappointed. We won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

It’s the casual cafe pit stop for a beer and a bite inside the museum. It’s one of our favorite places in Durham.

I really had no idea how to rate this place. On the one hand it's a little cafe in the middle of an attraction so your mind wants to judge it in that way, but if you judge it just as a little cafe as you should, then you realize the place was pretty great. The atmosphere was amazing. The staff were phenomenal, and the food was actually really good. Different options that suited everybody's taste. At a price that was, decent.

This is actually a great little cafe. It's more than you would expect for a muesem. The food was good, reasonably priced and offered a huge variety for anyone (including gluten free needs). The seating was a bit tight, I wished there more indoor spots because it was raining and cold so we weren't interested in sitting outside but overall a great experience while visiting the muesem.

Sprout Cafe is a life saver! Delicious food in the heart of the museum. We had 4 adults and 2 kids with us, and we were in and out in no time! Friendly service, food was great, kids were happy. What more could you ask for!? Definitely stop in when you're roaming around. They also have carts throughout the paths, which is super convenient! 10/10 😄🙌
