Have been coming here for years as a customer and the food is always exceptional. My favorite by far is the curry duck meal. Would highly recommend that dish if you enjoy duck. Overall very kind and generous people running this store. They pay attention to detail on meal alterations and provide solid portion sizes. So whether as a customer, or on the rare occasion I have been a courier for this store doing gig work, they always provide a pleasant experience.

Man I've had a lot of 1 and 2 star reviews lately and I feel bad, but this was just....not good. The pad thai was sickeningly sweet, the noodles were overcooked and mushy yet dry, i ordered it hot and they just sprinkled spicy dry seasoning on top of the dry noodles, so it didnt mix well and some bites were painfully hot while others were mild and sweet. Real rough experience here.

Friendly service and good food. I ordered Pad See Wa, seafood pad Thai, and mango sticky rice. Both noodle dishes were delicious but could've used more sauce. Next time I go I'll definitely ask for extra sauce, the pad Thai needed it more than the Pad See Wa. For the Pad See Wa, I'll get extra chicken next time. This was my first time having mango sticky rice, the rice is an acquired taste, good but took some getting used to. The mango and coconut cream sauce was the star for me.

The owner is the kindest person in the world! He is always so friendly when we come in, and we've seen him give the Doordash/Uber/delivery drivers free chilled sodas on hot days. The new space is very clean and there is ample table seating for both couples and larger groups, as well as seats at the bar. The food is almost $20 a dish for dinner, but that's very comparable to most Thai places in the area. The food is always steaming hot, taste is good/decent (your average neighborhood Thai place). If you are just looking for a clean place to have a hot comfort meal, I think Thai 55 is a good choice.

It's been My favorite Durham Thai food location for almost a decade now, both back when it was on highway 55 and now at the (newish) location on highway 54
For lunch I love to get their fresh papaya salad which comes with sticky rice and homemade beef jerky, or a bowl of Tom kha (traditional, broth-based) soup. For dinner I love the Thai basil and Penang curry w/tofu! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Thai 55 is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in town. I have had the best Pad Thai I can remember there. But there is some variability depending on who is cooking that day, as another time it was very good, just not quite as good as that time. Still one of my favorites. The staff is welcoming and friendly.
