It sits nestled at a busy locale off the main strip. It can be easier or more difficult to get in/out depending on what direction you're coming from. The spot was definitely busy with customers around the lunch hour. The menu has good selections but not too overwhelming with choices. I decided to try the dogs and made it a combo. Order taking and check out was quick. This is not a sit in place. Instead you walk up to the order window and go for it. The server lady was professional when taking my order. To get my food took about 15 minutes. Everything was good overall. My only quirk was that it didn't seem like a lot of food. I definitely recommend you stop by and check it out when in the area.

As a local, I grew up going to the dog houses all around Durham, great place to get a hot dog at a good price and they are always consistent and friendly. I just left this specific location and the lady at the speaker/window was very rude. I had a simple but somewhat larger order, 8 hotdogs, nothing crazy added or extra, she yells at me through the drive thru speaker they only have a 6 hotdog limit for drive thru. There is no sign posted nor has this ever been said/ posted before, fine. I go to the window as she so “pleasantly” requested, after waiting a short time, she comes to the window and just said “card or cash?”, I reply and pay, even leaving a tip. A couple of minutes later, I received my food and as soon as I grabbed my bag, she slammed the window shut without receiving the receipt I requested. This is the first time in about 10 years or so I’ve received unfriendly service from this location. When I visit, i typically interact with the manager and other team members who are very friendly and kind.

This is the 4th time between myself and my daughter that we have gone to The Dog House and asked for a side/cup of cheese and the employee has said no plastic containers for the cheese.Today I ordered the tailwagger which includes 2 hot dogs and a fry.I asked for another regular fry so my daughter and I could split the meal but back to the cheese at the order area the employee said there were no plastic containers. I asked if they could place 2 two sides of cheese in a cup and she said the cup would melt the hot cheese.
I get to the front and asked about the Styrofoam cup would actually melt with cheese and she said no but it would be 1.00 for the cup.i asked her to ring me up for the cheese and the cup and somewhere in there ,a conversation I missed she and the other employee must have decided not to sell me the cup and cheese. She gave me the tailwagger as well as my tea.asked why she didn't ring me up for the cheese and cup she said she was not going to argue about it..My question being why should we the customer have to pay extra for something they don't have in stock(1.00 Styrofoam cup because no plastic containers in stock).she went on to say she is not getting fired over I'm not sure what but I asked her to ring me for the 1.00 cup and the cheese which was another 50 cent..I let her know I need another 50 cent scoop and she proceeded to tell me she is not messing with me about the cheese. AND YES 1.50 FOR NOT EVEN A SCOOP OF HOT CHEESE..LOL Issue here is I was willing to pay because again this is shared between myself and my daughter. There was a great deal made over some cheese that she wanted to play gatekeeper over.I don't know why we feel sometimes we have to dominate situations rather than use good ole customer service with a smile.Businesses aren't what they used to be that is for sure! I hope management reads this and come us with a sensible solution, maybe increase plastic containers sent to these locations

When they asked if I wanted ask all beef hotdogs I was happy. When I got back to the hotel it was just a small cheap hotdog. This place is nothing special unless you want a cheap meal.

From out of town, and I love to find a local hotdog place to try out. This place delivers. Great food and great people.

AWFUL quality hot dog. Flavorless, unseasoned and texture of mush. Bun was like mush too.

$10 combo for two small hotdogs, a handful of under-salted fries, and a drink. The hotdogs were surprisingly flavorless, given they were the bright-red kind I often associate with that classic hot-dog taste. Service was typical for a fast-food establishment. It's an interesting place, but I won't be coming back again.

Received old French fries that were very hard. Also received three hot dogs with stale buns. Very disappointed.

Cool little hot dog spot, serving up a selection of hot dog toppings with great little names. Affordable and easygoing service! Ohhhh and thick-cut fried bologna sandwiches.... iykyk kind of place! If I'm ever in that area I'll definitely be back!
