Unfortunately, when I visited the Oak House on Friday, I was fed mold. I innocently ordered a single apple turnover, looking for a sweet treat on a cold and crisp evening. Alas, not only was my first bite basically a mouthful of air, I noticed within that the tiny morsel of apple filling in fact had...YES! MOLD! This was a most unpleasant discovery. The reaction of my friends was more sympathetic than the staff, who barely issued a sorry before offering me the other turnover from the case, with a weak promise to comp the first, seemingly unsure of how to do so. I left with only my stomach turning over. Be forewarned!

Super trendy yet warm coffee house/ brew/ wine bar. Came in for a quick coffee and stayed a few hours with some unique drafts and great conversations. Definitely a Durham Gem.

I visited here after dinner to read a book, and the atmosphere is really great for chilling out! They have both regular tables and bar seating. Coffee, wine and beer available. The menu has a wide variety of options. Tried the decaf Americano and it was really good.

Oak House has been my place of refuge since my return to Durham. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, and the ambience there makes this a unique establishment in the city. I thoroughly enjoy Taurean's (the manager) attention to detail, and constant energy when engaging with myself and other customers. Coffee is going to be standard specialty coffee. It's good, but nothing to write home and tell your mom about. They offer different sizes of cappuccinos, the smallest being 12oz.
Very friendly staff! Environment is very clean. A great place to meet up for coffee, wine, or whisky.
Clean bathrooms, but you'll need a key. Fast wifi. Great place to work from home, though it can get a little loud.
Surprisingly good pasties! They warm them up in an oven, not a microwave, so the croissant stays crispy!!

For more than $5.00 a cappuccino it would be nice to have sugar available for customers and maybe a barista that doesn't seem like your presence disgusts her.

I ordered one of their specials, Ginger Peach Arnold Palmer. After 10 minutes, and multiple other orders being made and delivered after mine and seeing him prepping, I checked in to make sure I didnt miss my name. The barista said the tea takes 3 minutes to steep....fine, but it had been way longer than that. He quickly hands me my drink shortly after.
It tastes like straight unsweetened black tea. I mention I dont taste the lemonade and he says Arnold Palmers don't have lemonade, and they're just tea?? But he would add some in if it made me happy. Odd experience overall. Barista seemed nice but like he had no idea what he was doing. Likely won't be back

stumbled across this place when walking around prior to an event. Snagged a coffee, which was good. The vibe/aesthetic of the place were both nice. The two persons working were friendly and cracked fun jokes during the coffee producing process. would def go back.
