Had a fun lunch, impressed by the reasonable prices and selection. My $7 enchilada plate was tasty and generous with lots of rice and beans accompanying it. Service was friendly and quick. We enjoyed the lively Mexican music in the background. Wish we had been able to come back for dinner; a local told us that they make a mean margarita.
I went to a restaurant before coming here.. the wait was an hour so I decided to go elsewhere .. I found this gem. The absolute best Mexican food I’ve eaten in North Carolina. (I’m from California and have lived in Texas so that should say a lot.) oh and our server, Armando Was amazing with his hospitality and generously handed us authentic salsa to enjoy with our chips and meal. I recommend this place 5 stars. Definitely coming back.
We come to EI every year and El Zarape is always a must stop. Well...not sure what happened. Food is usually authentic and delicious. This year its like it came out of a can! Maybe hard time keeping a cook due to covid. We honestly thought maybe they changed ownership. Well try them again next year...but not again this year.
