Don't bother. Expensive food, horrible attitude. You are not allowed to have any opinion of their food except for their opinion of it. They get ticked off at you if you don't think their food is the best ever. Some of their stuff was very good, other stuff, like their pork bbq, tasted horrible, was inedible, and went in the trash.

Don’t miss this place! Read the reviews and had to try it out. Hubs ordered the brisket and my daughter and I had the pulled pork. Brisket was excellent and truly melt ed in your mouth good. Pulled pork was so flavorful we didn’t even add BBQ sauce. The pit beans and street corn were yummy, too. Service with a smile, and she was very patient and willing to explain all the things to us newbies. All around great experience and great food!

I had the douse my sandwich with barbecue sauce when I got home. The sliced brisket was very dry. The sides were average. It was not good enough to supplant my current standby, the bogue house. My son enjoyed his chopped brisket sandwich.

We were staying in Atlantic Beach and decided to drive to Emerald Isle for some BBQ. We saw the place featured on Triple D so we were excited to try it. The group of 4 of us ordered the platters with brisket, sausage, pulled pork and ribs. We tried the potatoe salad, Cole slaw, pit beans, and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious.

Parking: There is only about 25 or so parking spaces in front of the restaurant. We got there about 11:30AM and there were none open. We parked on a side street nearby. The short walk was no problem, and the full lot is because the food is outstanding! Going back real soon!Wheelchair accessibility: They have designated parking for handicap and a wheelchair easily can go from the space into the restaurant.

Recommended dishes: Turkey Breast, Mom's Potato Salad, Brisket Sandwich

Simply the BEST BBQ I have ever had. First time customer on Friday and repeat customer on Saturday. Be sure to come early as they close once sold out. We had the pulled pork and I also had brisket. On my next visit will have to try the ribs. Have lots of very good BBQ in Richmond and some are close to Sheppard’s but the sauce is the crowning touch. Brought pull pork home and have enjoyed for the last 4 days.

It is a deeply stupid business model to have people get there early, wait an hour in line, and then run out of items an hour into a 4-hr open time.

Pro tip— skip the tipping. There is absolutely no reason to add a tip to your bill when ordering. This is a no frills operation. Period! They are making plenty of money. You will burn through $150 within a few minutes of entering the place and walk out the door with two small bags of food. The atmosphere is pharmacy like. The bbq may be the best in the area but the overall experience will likely kill your appetite. Cheers.

Came here because of the reviews. I love pulled pork. Not sure where the reviewers ate but my experience was not even remotely close. The brisket order was one piece of fat and one of brisket. The pulled pork was about 1/8th fat. Nothing special about the non fat portions of brisket or pulled pork. Out of stock on nearly half the menuand most sides at 12:30. Beans, potato salad, cole slaw were edible but nothing special, but the corn was "yuk". Drinks were individual purchases rather than a fountain drinks with refills. Definitely a mistake to eat here on my part..Parking: 7 sport at least one with an employee in it

Food was good. Quantity was disappointing. Had 2 meat plate for $20 and went away hungry. Plate had one rib and one bacon size brisket.

So happy a bbq restaurant is in Emerald Isle and Shepard BBQ is excellent. The ribs and pulled pork were my favorite, then the brisket. I had the collard greens and pit beans. Very good and so glad we went. They sell out fast. Next time I want to try the sausage. Warm and welcoming staff. Really friendly place to go.
