I went to Melvin’s today I ordered the oyster basket cornbread baked Mac n cheese and a sweet tea. The oysters was good but I only got about 7 of them for $10 the Mac n cheese was also good. However my cornbread was like rubber and half of the top was burnt. On top of all that they charged me an extra $2 to use my debit card although I was spending $25 on food which I find crazy. For it to be my first time eating at Melvin’s I’m highly disappointed

We went for take out and waited over an hour for our to go order. Restaurant wasn't packed at all. Once they brought my order, some of it was missing like the extra corn bread we paid for, the banana pudding we paid extra for.. we had to stop and ask different waitresses to help us cause no one was really working the front.
The food wasn't good to us. We got the fried flounder, fried croaker, ribs, collards, cabbage, mac and cheese, rice, with nasty gravy, potato salad - we definitely will not be back. Food was nasty, and service was slow! Too many other quality restaurants in Fayetteville with great customer, shorter wait times and great quality food- Melvins is NOT that restaurant. Maybe it was an off evening for them but they werent crowded..but for 3 meals at about $100 I expect great food and service to go.

I came from pembroke nc. About a 45 minute drive. I came with my mom my step dad and little sister. The food is TOP TEIR. I've never had BBQ so good in my life. We live 5 minutes from a BBQ spot back home and it's Definitely not hitting like this one MELVIN knows what he's doing. We Lao got the brownie and it wad delicious we ordered one to take home ! The music the atmosphere was awesome. Shout out to my server she was amazing also. She had glasses and a pretty smile. I do food reviews online and I'll definitely be back to do a little video and I'll high recommend everything on the menu my food came fresh hot and it was delicious 10/10 on everything!

While here in Fayetteville, I googled where to get fried fish near me. Melvin's was 5 minutes from where I was. I walked around the restaurant because they weren't open yet. This place is definitely a GEM with a patio and a little river out back. Once inside the energy was beautiful. I ordered the Catfish basket, brisket sliders, and a rib basket. The catfish was seasoned to perfection and fresh out of the grease🥰, The ribs fell of the bone😋, and the brisket sliders were tender juicy with an appropriate meat to bread ratio. The collards were tender and delicious. The cabbage was just right. This macaroni make you just hug the cook.🥰 I want them to cater my everything. The best place I've eaten this year!

Ordered porkchop dinner with greens and mac. Added a side of brisket and sweet potato souffle. Also pink lemonade. The lady said $52 but the ticket said 54. I handed her 60 and left. The porkchops were not cooked well. The crust was still soggy but they had a good flavor. Wish they were anywhere near crispy. The brisket was the best thing I ordered and it was kinda tough but seasoned well(after cooking). Greens were super bitter and bland. Mac almost seemed like they melted some shredded chz on noodles but I could taste the milk/egg combo so idk. Sweet potato souffle was canned sweet potatoes, heavy on the stringy part covered in some kind of brown topping, maybe a nut in there...haven't tasted my banana pudding that came with my dinner yet. I hope it's better than the rest. Anyways $60 and I'm still hungry and I'm not sure why it was anywhere close to that because the porkchop dinner is only $21 online and a SIDE of brisket and 1 extra side and drink should never add up to another 30 or 40.
There was a group having a meeting and enjoying themselves and im a people watcher, and the music was good so that's why I gave the atmosphere 5 stars. Oh and the server was nice after she softened her hard core lol
...almost forgot...for as long as it took to get my food, those porkchops should have been nice and crispy. It reminded me of shake and bake.

Definitely wanted to patronize a black owned business for the culture. I absolutely hate that the food wasn’t great and the service was trash. Along with a very long wait. The wait staff was short so I’m sure that may have something to do with it. But no way a table that was seated after mine got all their food before we even got the appetizer that actually never came out. After I asked the waitress about the appetizer twice she brought out two half full baskets of hush puppies. I’m hoping it was just an off day because the other reviews are pretty good. I would not go back again. But I hope others do.
Parking: Horrible even when it’s not packed because the lot is shared with two other businesses.

I went to Melvins in hope #1 supporting a black owned business, #2 it was my husband's birthday. We arrived, around 6:30, opened the door and was greeted out loud do you all have a reservation, we said no (very surprised that you HAD to HAVE a RESERVATION.). "WE NOT SERVING WALKINS". Everyone turned and looked at us, I was embarrassed and escaped out the door quickly. A little advice, there is ALWAYS a better way to address people even when you have to tell them no. I just kindly took my support somewhere else that was much appreciated.. Before, I did not see online that you HAD to make reservations. After, the incident, I looked online and saw I could make reservations. Very ironic, a friend of mine had arrived 15 minutes before us, and was seated at a big table. SMH. Being greeted at the door like this, I could only imagine the service was probably not the best. You all want us to support our black owned businesses, but yall SERVICE is the worst!
The food was bland no seasoning at all. Will NOT be going back. The service was slow.

The customer service is always good here. The brisket is better than i can make myself, fried chicken is better than Popeyes, fried shrimp is the best in town, the cajun shrimp is my favorite thing to order, mac and cheese was real good. Everything i tried was worth coming back for.
Example of great customer service : my order was off a little and the manager came out herself asked what i wanted with my smoke lick platter, brought it out, didnt charge me extra or make a big deal about the loss. Thank you again!

Possibly the best ribs I’ve ever had. Totally the sauce and the style that I like. The meat literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The Mac and cheese and cornbread were also totally on point. I went with the 1/2 unsweetened tea and 1/2 lemonade to drink which also hit the spot. Very friendly service as well.
If you live here or are passing by Fayetteville do yourself a favor and plan a stop here!
