Very serene atmosphere, with great service and good food. The Peanut Butter Soup was delicious but the dish could use a little extra fufu to finish the remainder of the soup. Other than that great restaurant and I would definitely come back.

Giuliano was amazing customer service is top notch he waste no time greeting you at the door..the building and atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I came by for lunch it was pricy but what isn't pricy these days. I took my meal to go and enjoyed every bit of it. This is definitely a go to place when your money is right lol. But I definitely recommend it for sure.

This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a culinary and cultural institution. In my travels I’ve been to hundreds of west African restaurants around the United States and this institution is a cut above the rest.
Upon arrival you are greeting by very warm staff and ushered into the place where there is plenty of seating. The mood is homey and the extensive African art collection immediately pulls you in.
The menu is a treat, what a mix of traditional and modern takes on West African food, all with great and refreshing drinks to match.
Once you place your order, it’s time to immediately visit and sit with all of the wonderful art displayed throughout this establishment. The owner is well-versed on art and has an extensive collection with multiple head turning pieces.
The food is incredible and has the right amount of spice, and there are additional spice options available if you’re into turning up the heat.
On this particular visit there was a DJ spinning a really nice set, which added to the sensory experience.
After taking in a really nice bowl of Egusi with stewed goat and pounded yam, I was drawn to the extensive drum collection this restaurant has. What started as a casual drumming turned into an intense 30 minute drum circle with perfectly random strangers and the DJ.
This place is a MUST VISIT! 10/10 I highly recommend.
This is what a West African restaurant should be, Culinary elevated, drinks appetizing, and music heavy on the rhythm.

Taste of West Africa is authentic! This place, owned by a mother and daughter team is “home” to anyone looking to settle into a warm meal and atmosphere.
The authentic art, live music, and delicious authentic flavors make for an elevated experience there worth the price.
In the many years of travel and experiencing west African restaurants, this one stands out in North Carolina as one of the best.
Come and experience a culinary and cultural treat.

The food was excellent. The empanadas were amazing. I tried egusi and fufu and the okra soup and they too were amazing. We will definitely be back to try other menu items! The service topped off the experience.

Attended for a meeting
My family and i sat here for an hour waiting to be served. They brought us two of our four drinks and then another 30 minutes later brought our food out in TO GO Trays.. Disrespectful and very unprofessional. I would not recommend this place
