Uptown's Chicken and Waffles

This was my first time trying this restaurant. When I first walked in, I was welcomed at the door. The music was great and very clean. I order a bunch of things just to get a feel for and taste of everything. I had the Boom Boom fried shrimp. It was amazing and so fresh, especially with the sauce they served it with. 10/10 Next, I tried the chicken and waffles. It did not disappoint. The chicken came out fresh and had a nice texture alongside the waffles with syrup added. 8/10 To finish, I had a side of grits and shrimp, which was amazing, 10/10. I had the Mac and cheese, and honestly, that was mid. I was expecting a little more flavor and for it to be baked. Mac and cheese is a 6/10. The potato salad was nice and had a decent amount of potatoes. It was a little sweet but an 8/10. I will be coming back

I’ve been coming to Uptown Chicken and Waffles for a few years, and unfortunately, the quality of both service and food has declined. Trying to call ahead is pointless because no one ever answers the phone. Today, I got on the waitlist, and the hostess told me it would be a 20–30 minute wait, but the text update I received said 52–60 minutes. That kind of inconsistency is frustrating. Once seated, I immediately noticed the lack of cleanliness. The carpet near the pool table was sticky, the floors were greasy, and the tables weren’t properly cleaned. The ceiling even had water stains, which isn’t a good look. I ordered the sweet potato waffle and chicken wings. Unfortunately, the waffle was cold, and the wings were overcooked and hard. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive, and throughout our meal, our waitress only checked on us three times—once to take our drink order, once to bring the food, and once to drop off the check. It wasn’t so busy that she couldn’t have checked in for drink refills or basic service. Also, if you visit on Sundays, be prepared to pay an entertainment fee for the DJ, whether you’re there for the music or not. This place used to be much better, but it’s in serious need of improvement. A deep clean, better service, and more attention to food quality would make a big difference.

I enjoyed the fish and shrimp basket 10 out of 10. The yams were great!

It took 40 mins to get out drinks after asking several other servers if they were assigned our table.49 mins after placing our order I asked the server what was causing the delay and was disregarded. Asked to speak to management and at first she seemed like she would assist in figuring out what was going on stating that we should have definitely had our food by now… several mins later she returned with a very sarcastic attitude, rude and stated if we want to eat we can wait if not leave !!!! Device here was HORRIBLE I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! This pic is 1hr and 17 mins after arriving and still no food…

Oh my, this was the best Sunday brunch experience. The food was absolutely amazing, the music was on point. And everyone was super nice . Our waitress was so nice and went above and beyond. Ms Nikie was made sure we were good. Did I say the food and music was on point. We will be back for sure. This was a whole experience 🎶🎶🎶🎶
