Such a great local place with good comfort foods. Great staff and its in a nice little town. We retired in this area a few years ago and the Penny has been one of our regular places.

I ordered the loaded fries as a appetizer they were burnt. Ordered a filet mignon medium well it was like chewing on leather. The chicken Alfredo my girlfriend got the chicken was raw and noodles not cooked all the way will never be back.

My husband and I have been several times to the Forest city location and a few to the Rutherfordton as well. The service is usually pretty good, atmosphere is cozy, however the food for us is usually a hit or miss.

Pleasant all around. Decent prices for what you pay for. Staff was friendly. Cool place to have a beer and a good meal.

Rachel was a great server. She was attentive and knew the menu well. I started off with a cup of ham, potato, and bacon soup, which was delicious. +

Husband saw this place while doing business a few days before in town and wanted to bring me here . Stopped in to have a late lunch on way to Brevard for the weekend. Our food was good .. only issue is that the waitress brought our food and then didn’t check back until she brought the check .. we got up got our own napkins and to go cups finally. Wasn’t busy in there and saw at least 3 waitresses around. My husband still left a great tip as he usually does and says maybe because we came in at 3 pm was why. 4 stars due to service.

Went here for brunch and waited to be seated we sat on the patio and waited 30 minutes for a server and no one came. So they seat us and than ignored us as people who came after us inside were served right away and we were completely ignored and forgotten by them. Absolutely horrible service. Was our second time coming and first time was great but obviously today they completely dropped the ball. Might try again might not but waiting 30 minutes is unacceptable and rude. Need to improve their customer service and treat customers equally. Very disappointed.

From the minute I walked in till the moment I left was absolutely amazing service. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly!! Wasn't dry, great flavor, good cut of meat. Baked potato was great and their homemade chips are good as well. I would definitely recommend trying here.

Recently 4 of us went here for dinner. Everyone enjoyed there sandwiches. The chips and fries were really good. However, the cocktails we ordered were awful. We ordered a Lemon drop martini and even after sending it back for a redo it was awful. The mojito basically tasted like sprite with a shot of rum.
I work in the food and hospitality industry and my recommendation is to send there bartenders to spend a day or two working alongside some great mixilogists in another restaurant in a bigger city like Charlotte or Greenville to learn from them and better there skills. This is what we do , a couple times of year to better our various baking, cooking and drink mixology skills. It really pays off .
