This place has gone downhill bad. It was filthy. We waited over an hour to be seated. The "chef" was a great young guy but can't cook for anything.. Food was burned and tasteless. He was really great entertainment and friendly but not a cook.
So many things went wrong. I will not revisit this restaurant or suggest anyone else visit. I have been to many hibachi spots but this was by far the worst experience and certainly not worth the money. The only bright side was our chef. He was great. Otherwise, everything else was terrible. Please save your money and go to a nice Hibachi spot in a surrounding town/city, i.e. Charlotte.
Well first of all we were the only people in the restaurant and had to wait almost 45 minutes before anyone came out to cook. Then the refill that my child got, I literally had to get up to find a waitress for it
The food was okay my friend enjoyed it. I guess my taste buds are messed up because I'm under the weather. The cook is hilarious while cooking he asked how do you want your meow meow cooked ? He was referring to the chicken.
Local that hadn't been there in 15 yrs! It turned out to be a good experience... Not the Best Ever but a good experience! We'll definitely be back!
The place was amazing and the food was great! Our cook was hilarious and was very good at his job. Nothing was wrong.
First off we waited for over 1.5 hours for a table. The place had 4 people working and that was it. My husband and I along with some friends and their 2 small girls were eating & the man cleaning the tables next to us blatently stared at their 2 little girls & then when he got to our table to clean, he asked questions like where do they go to school, how old are they, what are their names, etc. Which he didn't get the answers to!!! When they made it clear that he was making everyone very uncomfortable, he left and another man came out doing the same thing, trying to talk to the 2 little girls. Luckily there were cops just outside the building standing guard you could say because the restaurant has had a lot of trouble there recently. It was very disturbing and SICK!!! Something I will never forget & I'm so sorry our friends had to watch that happen to their children!!! It was disgusting!!! Do NOT take your children here!!!
My husband and some friends and I went with our children. We had a cleaning staff there at another table cleaning staring our 3 and 5 year old down. He came to our table to clean the grill top and kept staring at our little girls. Asking questions...age, where they went to school and their names. Sick! He was a child predator. Told him that he had taken things too far and that he was done at our table. He continued to stare at our innocent children and finally left. There were cops outside the restaurant and we told them what happened. Apparently they have had many complaints about this and that's why they are there. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN THERE!!!!
Went on a Friday night. Waited to be seated. Waited for our drink order to be taken. Waited for our drinks. Waited for our food order to be taken. Waited for soup. Waited for salad. Waited for a chef. Waited for zucchini. Waited for rice. Waited for shrimp. Waited for steak. Waited for chicken. Waited for sherbet that never came. Waited for check. The only thing we didn't have to wait for was for her to take our money with gratuity included. One waitress for two floors. Freezing the whole time, had to eat with coat on. Food was delicious but all Japanese food is delicious. If you have 3 hours for supper you will love it. Everything said by other poor reviews is true.
Haven't been in Shogun in over twenty years, but went on January 9th; a Tuesday. The place was dead, which was worrisome but Tuesdays likely aren't a busy day anyway. Lots of wear and tear on the interior of the building, but our table / grill was fine. The server was a quiet lady, very pleasant smile. The soup and salad were just okay. Things improved quickly when our chef arrived. He did his job very well, and he certainly entertained. I didn't get his name but he did say he was originally from Indonesia. If I could give him one piece of advice it would be that the chicken was ever so slightly dry. But hey, that really isn't a complaint because it was still good! The server kept our drinks full and everything went great. Hope to return again sometime.

The overall experience was great!! First time being there. Read the reviews beforehand, decided to try it out anyway. GLAD I DID!! The wait was a little long however, the food was amazing!! The chef (Jackie Chan) was great entertainment and can hold a conversation with you at the same time. Kept us laughing! There was a customer there at the table with us that was completely rude to them the whole time. The chef was very patient with him and still let us have a good time. I will be going back!
