This was our first visit to Barrister's. We started out with the bread and butter appetizer and it was delicious! I had a strawberries and cream cocktail that was delightful. We both had the NY Strip, it was tasty and cooked perfectly. Then we had the coconut crème brûlée, and it was the best crème brûlée that I've ever had. The waiter was amazing, he was very friendly and personable. We will visit again. I highly recommend.
My wife & I arrived on time for our reservation and were seated promptly. Our server Alyssa was excellent, attentive but gave us space. Started w Barrata, the cheese was very creamy. I had the ribeye, cooked perfectly to medium. Finished w coconut creme brulee. The menu is limited, so check before u go. Setting in a lovely old bank building, love the repurposed building. Has an outdoor dining when nice weather.
Delicious food & generous portions. Watermelon panzanella was outstanding as was Brussels sprouts. Pasta & broccoli rabe was excellent & grits were cooked right! Coconut cream brûlée was plate licking worthy. Worth a visit, attentive & friendly service.
We had a business dinner at Barristers and truly enjoyed it. Kayla our waitress was very lovely. The cocktails were delicious! The food was enjoyable. The only criticism: wine pours were on the short side. Not enough vegetables in the toasted rice dish. Beautiful space to relax in while dining...
Well, this was a swing and a miss, at least for me. First, the good...the waitress is excellent. She attended to every need, addressed questions well, timely with all food and beverage service. She tried to save my meal when she found out I was not enjoying the dinner. The food was prepared quickly. Of note, we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The restaurant setting is very nice. The bar is well stocked and the wine selection adequate. Now for the bad...my food lacked taste. I ordered the potato pave with green curry. The potato cake was good but the curry lacked flavor. Although I like things hot (spice), this was under seasoned and really lacked any distinguishing flavor. The radishes were not noteworthy, either. The shitake mushrooms were good. My wife tried a bite of my food and she thought it was fine, so take my criticism with a grain of salt, since I am very critical when it comes to food. My wife's salad and soup were good and she enjoyed them.
Visiting on a Thursday night and weather was perfect for dining outside. We had Kayla as our server, and she was attentive, energetic, and enjoyable. We had the Burrata Appetizer, which is one of our favorites. My wife had the Salmon with the green curry and it was perfectly spicy and delicious. I opted for the vegetarian version of that dish with the Potato Pave, which is a dish I have not been able to find anywhere else in our area, so I highly recommend!
Meal was small for price. Asked for Salmon on the salad recieved Steak by error but after waiting for an hour for the food I accepted the mistake. The room was very cold and made it uncomfortable.
A new place for us to try, thanks OpenTable. It's a quaint place inside the hotel. They did well with the space. The menu has plenty of great choices. We started with the Barrata, superb. I had the Bone-In Pork Chop served on grits with a roasted Succotash. Excellent, the chop was perfectly done, nice char. Grits, amazing. Highly recommend.
Brought a business group in for lunch (7 people) and the food and service was stellar. The food came out quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals. We highly recommend for lunch or dinner business meetings as the venue is unique, food is delicious, and the atmosphere allowed our group to have an effective lunch meeting.
Service was great, food was really good but hoped for more than delivered (for what they charge... ) they could have been a bit more generous with ingredients and I would have been completely satisfied. My Gorgonzola salad hardly had and Gorgonzola, for example..my wife had the shrimp and pasta and was completely satisfied. (I was hungry so I ate a lot of her pasta and it was really good!)

I've been to dinner there twice now. I love the character and charm of this old bank and lawyers building. The food was excellent both times. The Potato Pavel is incredible !!! And they know how to cook a steak perfectly. I feel so fortunate to have this fine dining experience close to Belmont and Gastonia. Check out the rooftop and outdoor dining space, too. Spread the word!
My SO and I went to Barrister's for his Birthday and our experience was AMAZING! Unique but delicious food with a few southern classics. Please don't skimp on dessert; the Chocolate Chess Pie is to DIE for. We paired it with a sweet coffee dessert cocktail, which was perfect! They have an extended wine list and variety of cocktails. Great ambience in a beautiful setting- definitely can not go wrong for a date night or special evening. Overall highly recommend!!
We had an excellent experience at Barristers. Our dinner group consisted of 4 couples and everyone ordered something different. The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect, and our server Hailee provided great service. We'll definitely be returning soon!
The atmosphere was nice. Soft, warm lighting with a feel of being outside due to the sconces, large cathedral type windows and stucco walls. A beautiful bar nestled in the rear of the restaurant. The party beside of us was a little louder than we would have liked, but we were still able to carry on a conversation without raising our voices. Our meal was very tasteful. We started with the duck empanadas, which were a little spicy until you added the pickled cabbage which made them wonderful. The Mrs. chose the roasted squash, mushrooms and carrots over butternut squash grits and she was more than impressed. I had the New York strip with crunch white potatoes. I am extremely particular with how my steak is cooked and this one was perfect. Seared crunch on the outside and warm pink medium on the inside. I absolutely loved every bite. We did not have drinks and the bill was what I consider to be average for such a nice meal and environment. Overall I would tate this as a 4.5 out of 5. We will definitely be going back again.
We arrived about 30 mins before our reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is small and intimate with marble flooring and ambient lighting. Our server was nice and knowledgeable about the history of the building. We started with the duck empanadas which my husband enjoyed and fried squash which were a winery in my book. For our entree I enjoyed the gorgonzola pasta, while my husband had the market fish which was the mahi this evening. My pasta was a bit too salty , but overall both dishes were enjoyable and the staff was nice and attentive throughout the evening. This restaurant would be perfect for a special occasion or date night. I definitely plan to return during the warm weather months and utilize the beautiful outdoor seating area.
