While the restaurant showed promise, our overall experience did not meet expectations, particularly given the price point. Upon entering, we noted a faint musty odor in the dining room that detracted from the ambiance. Our server brought what were described as fresh wine glasses, yet one contained a residual liquid, which was concerning. Service was exceptional! Christian is a knowledgeable server and was engaged without being too chummy. We shared a charcuterie board as an appetizer and it was good but not remarkable. Husband had the venison special and it was excellent. I was less enthusiastic about the grouper. It was kind of bland and mushy. Desserts were very tasty. I had crème brûlée and he had an apple crumble kind of thing. Very pleasant surroundings. Will go again!
We went to St. Jacques years ago in Raleigh and were very disappointed when it closed. I learned recently that Chef Lil and his wife Lori had opened this restaurant (and the attached B&B) and was so excited to go! The food was excellent, and the creme brulee was still probably the best we've ever had!
